I'm so silly, stupid, un foresighting...
« on: May 11, 2006, 06:32:18 pm »
I bought a rather expensive alienware PC with all the ahrdware wize bells and wizzles. I am packing two 7800s in SLI but now I see DX10 and I was wondering if anyone is in the same situation as me, spending the money they had saved up, only now needing to buy new graphic cards...  :'( :'( :'( :'( I'm going to go ahead and cry in a corner. And do I need to update my cards to use DX10? Do I need a new motherboard?

you cant update your cards only with new drivers. but you cant update them to have DX10 features.
however you dont need to get a new motherboard just buy the DX10 card that you want when they come out.
i wouldnt sweat it though it will be a while before its being used fully.

Isn't DivX the devil? Everyone says it's not backwards compatible and everything.

We were stupid and bought an alienware laptop, which we had to return not one, not twice, but three times.  Eventually we opted for a desktop. Somewhere in the paperwork our order never went through, they claimed they returned the money, visa told them they hadn't. We eventually got our money back.

The moral? Buy a Falcon or Voodoo

A friend of mine had a Alienware laptop as well and it kept on overheating. I personally have a second voodoo PC now and I'm very satisfied.

Silly People, you are never going to keep up with technology.  Unless you have the cash.

Actually you do not need that mush cash if you good at finding buyers. What you do is buy hardware as highend and cheap as possible. Keep it a maxmum of 3 month. Find a buyer. Try to sell it to him or her for the same price as you bought the hardware. And then you reapeat the cycle. I did have a buddy that did this. But is a lot of work,

It's no longer cheaper to just build your own really.

Depend on what you are looking for in you system. Also it depends on where you get your parts.

And the method i mentioned is depended on your building your own system. I would not recommend it however if you do not have the time or the connections.

That is exactly the reason why I am not upgrading for a while. But it happens. So you won't have DX10 on the hardware side.... big deal!

Stop complaining SLI boy.

You seem pretty good so I won't make any remarks about Alienware.  :-*
