Your jewelry is very nice! I thought it was a render at first until I saw it on your arm.

How'd you make it? Also tell me about your camera. That first shot has some nice depth of field.

Saw a picture of a similar piece online and wanted to try to figure out how to recreate it.  Basically, it's two lengths of leather cord knotted together with a button at one end.  Then, the beads are woven between the length of the two cords, before the ends are tied off in loops the button can fasten to.

As for my camera, it's just my phone.  I've got a Pixel 3A.  What's great is the Pixel 3, Google's mainline of that generation of phone, had one of the best cameras on the market.  When they made the 3a, a much cheaper model, they still used the same camera since they had them already.  The result is a phone with the camera of a $1000 phone, for a third of the price.

I like it!

My flip phone can't take pictures like that. :3

*photography snob moment: TIL a $1,000 phone has the camera of a $200 camera. :^)

Sheesh I logged in yesterday to post and my internet ran out of juice and it was about time for bed. Oh well.

Went on an extensive hike this weekend. We only set out to do a few miles over a couple hours and ended up staying out for 12 hours and crapping out thirty miles of trails. Was very good. Same time next week, we said. We shall see.

Pat, that’s awesome!

A friend I’ve know since elementary school got super into hiking about a year and a half ago. He did this extended walk which I believe took him across several states along the Atlantic coast. The daily updates he posted always impressed me. I think the trail is relatively well known in hiking circles (likely one of these: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long-distance_trails_in_the_United_States) but I don’t remember the name. Either way, I got him a pair of binoculars ahead of the trip.

I also drew some comics about hiking a while back, but I can’t speak to their accuracy.

What meme is relevant right now? Look, just imagine I'm riffing on that. Updating signatures is exhausting.

A friend and I want to hike the Appalachian Trail (and not just in the way that John Edwards did huehuehuehuehue) but that particular trail is known to attract vagrants and unsavory types. So it is advisable to bring a weapon in addition to not going it alone.

Took the day off work to get my car inspected. So today I'm busying myself with cable management around the house. I really like conduits and when I was a kid my dad and I put some in when he upgraded his television set. Since it's my decision this time, I'm using the correct sized conduits and openings. The last setup we did used a conduit that was much too small and maybe someone tried to warn about that but OH WELL!

So yeah! Got some nice inch and a quarter conduit going in behind a couple walls with a smart looking opening at the top and the bottom. They make these really nice plates with what amounts to a vertical sweep on both sides. They look real good! And the end result will look real good as well.

WOOP WOOP!

Got bumped by the 277 line today. Been a couple years since that has happened. Thankfully it isn't too bad.

Future project: won a rifle so I have to kit it out a bit. Nothing crazy, but I need to find a scope.

Maybe some LED lights for the fans. We'll see...
