That pic there shows that we can just hop into an adventure without having to find one ingame, I think this is what everybody has been hoping would happen as far as accessing it.

I've heard or read that the expansion will ship with Maxis-made adventures, so I guess they'd follow a storyline (or a group of stories), but I'm not sure about whether or not they'll go further into the Grox storyline or anything like that. Then again, most of the story is supposed to come from the player in Maxis games. 

Anyway, it's nice to be back to the days of desirously ogling snippets of game footage!  The maze looked pretty impressive, and I was really surprised at how big it was (even though it was easy to cheat and fly over the walls), so I'm hoping we can create some truly huge environs for our quests to play out in (I was worried the complexity bar would restrict us to, say, a clutch of villages strewn around the planet or something).

It's nice to see the dialogue thingy in action too. I'm looking forward to that one.

Yea, I'm not too sure about the complexity of the dialogue. Maybe there won't be a dialogue tree, but you could have as much text as you wanted to.

That screenshot blows wide open the possibility of sharing a scenario and maybe working on it as a team. Not sure about how to share the files, but as long as there is some form of sporepedia access for them.

I'm hoping that's the case. Making dialogue trees was fun (when I dabbled a little and didn't get very far in NWN toolkits), but I can live without as long as there isn't some kind of terrible restriction on how much can be written. I'm planning to have a lot of NPCs in my adventures and even the most mundane of them will have something to say... it just fleshes out a world that way, I feel.

It was the limits that made Spore dissappointing in the first place!

If I want to make an epic story with lots of intrigue, then I should be able to.  If someone doesn't have the attention span to sit through it, then they can play "Save the Princess" instead.

Exactly... and you could always give adventures a 'very wordy' tag as forewarning or write such a warning in the description.

That depends if you have a choice to take it or not. If you want to write an encyclopedia on a simple fetch quest go ahead, but I don't want to be forced to have to read it.

I would love to read a whole encyclopedia in a fetch quest if the world it is set in is interesting enough.  The type of mission is irrelevant.  It is the setting, the plot, the creations of the creator, that are important.  Limiting that would be very wrong indeed.

Besides, saying that something sucks just because it is "too long" is very ignorant.  It is the content which matters.

the point of this expansion i believe is to make the missions more fun by allowing players to make missions, so we dont have to do "simple fetch quests". it is because of quests like these that games get slated, id rather get a staff for someone in a really well crafted story and feel involved, as opposed to just getting them a staff.

you can always skip the dialogue.
