Everything Else / Re: Religion

I love blind beleif, to you it might be blind but not to me. I find that i am only proving your point, that this debate will never end, the only thing we know for certain is that one of us, you, or me; will be very surprised when we die.

I will not be surprised if I am wrong.  I will simply alter my theories, and form new hypotheses.

Science is the study of truth, it must be altered with new evidence.

We just have to have faith.

I think that considering blind belief a virtue is the great schism that seperates religious and scientific thought.  As long as one side considers faith a good thing, and the other considers it detrimental to the understanding of the universe, the debate between the two will never end.

The former leader of Canadia would like to remind Argentina that it is quite smaller than the UK.

you think UK could betray me? I could obliterate it at a wim.

Yeah, nice diplomacy you've got going there.  :P

But how could you be sure?

As long as you yourself are not God, you cannot know His purpose.  For all you know, He could be lying to you.

For all you know, after you die, you go to some sort of maximum security prison painted over to look like heaven, and they feed you what you want to hear so that you stay compliant.

Like I said earlier, the only thing you can ever know for certain is that you exist.  Everything not under jurisdiction of your consciousness will remain unknown to you.  Forever.

Oh, and btw, 4000 posts!  :D

Its a mystery, just like the holy trinity.

Magic is just science not yet understood.  A mystery is something to be solved.

If there is a God, then surely the purpose of mankind is to quantify him.

I know, I have several space books with that. Did I ever say it was a Sol sized star? By the way, did you think that from me saying Calla was cool? It's like that because the light dissipates in the nebula.
It's a matter of heat, not light.

Couldn't the planet just be very far away from the blue giant, to compensate for the heat?

Kcronos, stop making dumb posts.

And on the subject of religion, I want to ask a question of all you believers out there.

What do you think makes god who he is? In other words, what factors (not things he did) do you believe make him well... god.

It would help if you stop posting insulting and grammatically incorrect replies.

Please refrain from diminishing the worth of another poster, and don't break the forum rules.

Anyway, in response to your question: After thinking about it for a while, "God" is simply everything else besides "me".  Anything I do not know, or is not under the jurisdiction of my consciousness, influences me as a conscious entity.  The purpose of this "God" is not known to me, and cannot be known, unless it too becomes part of my consciousness.  It could be some monotheistic entity, combined with a supernatural universe, or it could simply be a gigantic conspiracy, wherein everything that I come in contact with has been engineered by some unknown force.  Or I could be crazy, wherein my delusions would be "God".

By responding to him, you embarrass yourself.  Also, it's you're, not your.
