when i've registered to other forums their have been a couple times when i've received a pm saying "her i know you from the gaming steve forum" because i use the same avatar pic and sig with all my accounts. At the moment i am only in two forums, here and i occasionally pop into the cracked forums to rant about stuff but i usually offend people so i stay out quite alot.

has anyone else here ever spotted someone in a different forum whose by finding someone using the same name and stuff as they do here?

if so then holla at me dawg!

Music / Super Furry Animals
« on: December 08, 2008, 02:54:51 pm »
I posted the video of my personal favourite of their songs in the youtube bonanza thread but i think it warrents a proper thread here too.

The Super Furry Animals are an alternative Rock band that like to make alot of experimental stuff and they even make brilliant psychedelic rock.
They have their roots in Techno music which gives their songs a nice little feeling to them as their are moments when their electric side shows through.

They're quite old considering they've been around since 1990 so they've made alot of music. Something like 9 albums and that song up their is from like the 7th album they've made so they don't seem to be losing any steam as they go.

Give em a look in. They aren't very well known so spread em round if you like em and get people listening to them!

What you think?

Everything Else / What If Alians had the same religion as us?
« on: November 24, 2008, 03:04:44 pm »

What effect do you think this would have on our planet? would everyone convert? what else might happen?

Console Games / I hate Guitar Hero! Who's with me!?
« on: November 11, 2008, 09:47:49 am »
I'm looking around on the internet for a new guitar and to get an idea of whats available i type Les Paul into ebay as they're my favourite kind of guitar and all i get are freakin guitar hero guitars. I'm sick of this thing. I look for song tabs and i get idiots bragging about how they can play this song guitar hero.

Its a game where a band that only gets 80% of its notes correct gets blazing 5 start reviews and you can post a video on youtube of you getting 100% on expert and people will comend and envy you on how much of your life you've wasted.

It boggles my mind it really does.

Music / Chinese Democracy
« on: November 11, 2008, 08:57:29 am »
Its FINALLY here. i've listened to what snippets their are available and its sounds like its really good.

Considering this album is 15 years in the making it will be very difficult to live up to expectations.

Here's "Shacklers Revenge" the second song off the album.
It has a brilliant riff at the begining but the rest seems a bit lacking. It has that feel that many songs have that they're made by brilliant musicians who are past their prime.
I feel like stating that the solo is very good indeed. atleast that lives upto thier rep

Anyway its gonna be released in a couple weeks or so. you gonna buy it?

If you like it then your in or a treat because its just the first of a trilogy of albums that are gonna be released. should be a good selection of songs even if its not upto people's expectations.

Music / Johnny Cash
« on: October 16, 2008, 02:36:16 pm »
For some reason people are bit shocked to learn that i ****ing love Johnny Cash.

i think the last song he wrote "when the man comes around" was a perfect end to his career and indeed his life.

to me atleast, his music is so brilliantly written it manages to ignore the fact that i hate country music and give me alot of entertainment.

What do you guys think?

Spore: General / The Spode
« on: September 24, 2008, 02:40:52 pm »
O.K, so The followers of spode are like the Anti-Grox. They hate the grox more than anyone as they conflict with their prophecy and the grox's beleifs. You would imagine this would make them perfect allies for you to have but no. The followers of Spode are often the first major enemies players will come accross.

so what i'm asking is. is it possible to convert and become a follower of spode? i want to join them officially but i can't find a way.

can you change any of these?

Spore: General / terraforming and colonising
« on: September 20, 2008, 04:57:48 am »
O.K, i guess i just need some specific advice.

What are the most desirable planets for colonisation? obviously a high T score and lots of rare spice geyser is obviously what you want but what's more important?

is a high T score more desirable than lots of spice when you havn't got all the neccesary terraforiming equipment?
whats aspects are you looking for in your choice of planet for your first ever colony?
any other general tips or advice in this area?

Everything Else / Max Headroom
« on: June 02, 2008, 07:45:38 am »
for those of you who do not know of Max Headroom then here you go. - Basically hes a fictional character that is supposed to be a computer generated personality that shows on a screen. the character is played by Matt Frewer in much the same way Sacha baron cohen plays his Borat character.

I've always been a fan of Max Headroom because of his strange sense of wit and the originality of the character itself so i got a li'l bit exited when i heard about the following. . .

recently (partly due to the below advert) his popularity has risen though and Matt Frewer anounced that he has a Max Headroom project in the deal making stage so if that hasn't crumbled then its likely he that Max may well return

Most of you will know him as the wierd head of the adverts on channel 4.

i just wanted to know what everyone else thinks about this.

TV / Proving People Are quite sick - The Intercept
« on: February 19, 2008, 08:13:33 am »
Their was a Russian TV show where the first thing they would do is give the contestant the grand prize.

That's right, in the Russian show "The Intercept" the first thing they did was give them a brand new car and as the contestant drove away (by now quite happy) in his new car, the game show hosts would then phone the police and report the car stolen.

The police would then give chase and they have an agreement whereby if they evade the police for 35 minutes they win the car and if they're caught, they are savagly beaten right their on the roadside. Now since the contestants knwow their is going to be a chase many of them come up and prepare quite ingenious plans before hand, one even drove his car onto a boat and sailed away but again only a handful of people ever won as the show was propaganda and made to show that you stood little chance of escaping the police.

now this is a fine idea for a show to me, do whatever you want aslong as the contestants give informed consent then i don't care.

what i would like to point out is that this show had 85 million viewers. 85 million people enjoyed watching a program that consisted of a car chase and a savage beating. makes me wonder how many people would watch a televised beheading if they showed that BBC1. The only reason british and american versions havn't sprang up is because of the obious dangers of this kinda ****.

although i must admit, rightnow i am looking for some DVDs of this show.

Everything Else / The Psychopathy Checklist
« on: February 12, 2008, 08:24:11 am »
a well known diagnostician of psychopathy, Dr. Robert Hare has made a checklist of psychopathy

simply mark the person in question with either a 0 for "no," 1 for "somewhat," and 2 for "definitely." and obviously the higher their score the higher the chance they are a clinical psychopath (this in no way means a murderer or they are violent or Mr. Blonde just they have a more tenuous link to reality wether it be completely or very minor)

1. Glibness/superficial charm
2. Grandiose sense of self-worth
3. Need for stimulation/proneness to boredom
4. Pathological lying
5. Conning/manipulative
6. Lack of remorse or guilt
7. Shallow affect
8. Callous/lack of empathy
9. Parasitic lifestyle
10. Poor behavioural controls
11. Promiscuous sexual behaviour
12. Early behaviour problems
13. Lack of realistic, long-term plans
14. Impulsivity
15. Irresponsibility
16. Failure to accept responsibility for own actions
17. Many short-term relationships
18. Juvenile delinquency
19. Revocation of conditional release
20. Criminal versatility
Narcissism is also a characteristic

laymen are not really meant to use this checklist to diagnose psychopathy but you can try and see if it fits you or someone you know anyway. just take it with a pinch of salt.

Everything Else / Have you ever tried standup comedy?
« on: January 10, 2008, 12:10:41 pm »
has anyone here ever tried doing stand up comedy themselves?

i recently tried it and it was the most nervous i have ever been, i had been on stage before but always with a script and others on stage never on my own.

but i went up and was quite cynical which was unintentional but all in all i did quite well and i was just wondering if any other people have tried it

Edit:Fixed title
