Zing zong zingeling zong
Tomorrow may be gone gone gone gone
Look me in the eyes and tell me
Why do I stand accused

But no matter what you say, don't tell me
That I have no right to refuse

Oh, baby, darling, my loved
How could you have done me like fraud

Oh, zing zong zingeling zong
Why don't you tell me I'm wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong

But I do have no right to refuse
When I do stand accused

Blame and defame and forgive me!
For I have done you no harm

How could you just shame and forbid me!
When I have done no wroooooooooong

I got a mysterious phone call. It was from a "private" or secret phone number. No idea who it is, because I didn't have a chance to answer. But it could be the Finnish police!

Let's say the police is after me. What would you think is the most likely reason?

Everything Else / What's a good mid-range Android phone?
« on: August 21, 2020, 08:15:06 am »
Hey guys, my Honor 8 is falling apart and I think it is time to look for a new phone. Sadly new Honors don't support Google services, so I'm looking for an alternative. I'm looking for something in the 200-400€ price range.

So far my options are Motorola Moto G8 Power, Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro, OnePlus Nord G5 and Samsung Galaxy A41.

Can anyone vouch for these phones or know about any issues with their brands?

What I'm particularly interested in is if they can handle multiple apps open at the same time. I once bought a Nokia 6.1 which turned out to be trash because it kept killing my apps. I bought Honor 8 just a couple weeks later, which worked splendidly - until I dropped it two stories down.

I already tested out my mom's Motorola Moto G7 Power, which turned out to have similar tendencies to kill apps as the Nokia. So I guess that rules Motorola out. My next option would have been Xiaomi, but then I read about multiple Xiaomi users being banned in Pokemon Go for no reason. So that leaves OnePlus and Samsung. According to Don't Kill My App, they're both pretty bad, so I dunno what to think. However the site also says Huawei is particularly notorious for killing apps, but I never had any issues with my Honor phones whatsoever. So I dunno how reliable this information is:

https://dontkillmyapp.com/

Can anyone recommend a good Android phone max 400€ that doesn't kill my apps? On that awful Nokia I could hardly check Whatsapp without being greeted by a loading screen when returning to Pokemon Go.

Which phones do you guys use?

So now that this is the land of the living dead, does that mean the rules are no longer in effect?

Truly the greatest spambot that ever spambotted. 34 posts he has. So hardworking. Truly unstoppable!

But man, if you scroll down many of these boards, the spam threads have grown like weeds. Kinda like if you forget about your Animal Crossing town for a while.

Where are the mods now? Anyone ready to do some cleanup?

Oh hey I have an idea. Let's make all of the active members mods! YESSS.

I hear our moderator forgot his login, so it's free real estate, you guys! Spam as much as you can! Break the rules! Be disrespectful! Use profanities, make personal attacks, make redundant threads, do troll, do rant and do impersonate others!

For more ideas on rules to break, consult the forum's code of conduct: http://www.gamingsteve.com/blab/index.php?topic=33.0

Everything Else / Gay faggotry and other gender issues
« on: May 27, 2020, 10:53:48 am »
While Pat may have been purposefully inflammatory when he referred to us as faggots, he was right that there have been surprisingly many representatives of the LGBTQ community in our good old forum. And I think that's great!

I think internet forums tend to be a safe haven for people who may feel judged out in the real world. So in the end I guess it's not so surprising.

However I don't think we have ever had a topic for this issue! Correct me if I'm wrong.

Personally some people seem to think I'm a lesbian just because I have short hair. Or that I want to be a boy. And I think that's ****ed up. It's just hair! Anyone can have hair of any length for any reason. It's 2020, people!

So I dunno, here's a thread to discuss your experiences about gender and sexual identity.

Art / Must Write Bad Poetry
« on: September 22, 2016, 11:20:31 am »
Post your terrible or less terrible poetry here. I have a vague memory of a poetry thread, but I couldn't find anything.

Anyway, I actually write a lot of poems. No one ever sees them. I must correct this by showing off my terrible poetry. You must, too. Show off your bad poetry!

Everything Else / Help with computer?
« on: June 10, 2014, 06:29:17 am »
I dropped my computer on the floor half a year ago.

At first the files would take a while to open, and sometimes the control panel would crash. A couple of days ago I had the blue screen and now it won't start sometimes, and files are really slow.

I'm thinking of taking it to repair, but I wonder what they can do and how much will it cost.

Any suggestions?

Everything Else / I have discovered the meaning of life!
« on: April 11, 2012, 11:57:58 am »
And no one is ever going to shake my belief. As proof, I made this thread and invite you all to disagree with me, so that I can even further prove that I can reject all your opinions and hold onto my own!

My belief is that what you're supposed to do in life is to work hard and have a goal. Overcome your fears and don't be afraid of success. But don't make rash decisions and be careful. Always think in the long term.

Oh, and worrying about wearing yourself out and working too hard is mostly bull**** and does more harm than good. So rather just work hard first and if that's not good enough, consider what must be done.

And then work hard some more.

And also it's not really that important to do something you love, it's more important to love what you do. Doesn't really matter which comes first. You can find good things in stuff you hate. You can learn to love that stuff.

I also think that it's important to appreciate all sorts of people, because the world needs all sorts to get by. Just make sure you are the better sorts. If you want to be happy with yourself.

Actually, happiness isn't all that important, either. There are other feelings that can make you feel good about yourself. Life is never unending bliss. You can find happiness in working hard all day and then in the end of the knowing that you can sleep well, having worked hard all day.

Getting stuff done makes you feel powerful, and while that doesn't necessarily imply happiness, it's a pretty good feeling nevertheless.

Some people might think you are a dick because you just want to feel powerful, but hey, can't please everyone. If they truly knew you and didn't judge you based on their misbeliefs, they'd probably like you! Just be nice and that'll get you far.

So, to summarize: Get stuff done, be nice and listen to people, agree and then do whatever you were going to do anyway, because you need to get your stuff done.

And to re-summarize: Get stuff done.

Everything Else / The Personal Triumph Thread
« on: October 15, 2011, 12:22:01 am »
Well, I thought that since we already have two threads to complain about your problems, I thought we should also have a thread to celebrate your victories! Big or small, write about your achievements, fortunate occurrences, and things that you're happy about here.

Yesterday I threw some milk and marmalade into a sauce pan and it turned into orange-flavoured toffee! Sweet!
