Title: Star Wars Live Action TV Series

The series will be about 100 one-hour episodes long, although up to 400 episodes has been proposed. Executive Producer Rick McCallum has stated that it will be “much darker, much grittier, and it's much more character based” than the original Star Wars films, and George Lucas has described it as “Deadwood meets The Sopranos in space.” Indeed, the choice to use writers from Australian dramas Secret Life of Us and Love My Way, both of which focus on relationships and emotional storylines, suggests that, unlike the films and previous television shows, the live-action series will feature an adult audience. Writers from Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, and Lost – all non-traditional sci-fi shows – were also reportedly contacted.

George Lucas is self-financing the series, and will serve with McCallum as Executive Producer, although he will apparently be relatively hands-off on the project after the first season. The show will be shot in high-definition, and Lucas has stated that, in terms of special effects, they plan to do with $1 million what others do with $20 million.

I smell failure. Let us hope that they care enough to learn from SGU's mistakes.

The CG Clone Wars Series, particularly [Anakin's apprentice whose name I'll never speak aloud], has somewhat smothered my Star Wars fangirl-ism. Not too interested, but knowing me, I'll watch at least one episode. Here's hoping that it doesn't kill what little respect I have for "Post Saga Completion" Star Wars.

Hey, I'll get behind any show that comes close to my dream of Boba Fett and Cad Bane meeting.

I'd probably hit it up, only if it has non main stream star wars characters, like boba fett and  kyle katarn

Yes, Kyle needs to be brought into the mainstream. Mara Jade would be cool too.

Any word what era it takes place in?

But it is the possibility of a live-action series – one that will bridge the gap between Episodes III and IV – that has been the most exciting for many fans.

III to IV

Hey, I'll get behind any show that comes close to my dream of Boba Fett and Cad Bane meeting.

Only if Bane gets pasted by Boba. Unless he already gets killed off in the animated series...

Which reminds me; I just realized that the Gran Senator (same exact model and voice over) dies twice; first when his transport crashes on the pirate planet, and second when shot in the back of the head by Bane.

Well continuity is already screwed over by Anakin's apprentice, so someone dying a few times shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Not to mention that Clone Wars continuity was allready pretty screwy to begin with (Labyrinth of Evil vs. 2D Clone Wars, anyone?)

And Jar Jar Binks didn't?

I was in second grade when episode 1 came out. Burn me at the stake, but Jar Jar was what finally convinced me to become a Star Wars fan. My attitude has changed over the years, but still...

George Lucas gives update. (http://screenrant.com/star-wars-liveaction-tv-series-expensive-rob-72259/)

"The live action TV show is kind of on hold because we have scripts, but we don’t know how to do them." “They literally are Star Wars, only we’re going to have to try to do them [at] a tenth the cost… And it’s a huge challenge, [a] lot bigger than what we thought it was gonna be.”

I say they at least get pointers from whoever produced the Stargate franchise. They know what they're doing.

That's cool. I liked Jar Jar Binks, too!

Surely you could get something that looks like the origional trilogy at the 10th of the cost of the the recent trilogy. Which wouldn't be half bad sure it will be 30 years out of date but still it can't be too bad.

But Lucas probably doesn't want it to look like the new trilogy, it has to be all shiny and cgi like the new stuff.

The CG Clone Wars Series, particularly Asoka, has somewhat smothered my Star Wars fangirl-ism.

But... I like this series... oh, and I said it aloud for you.
If someone trolls me for liking it, there will be flamewars, and they will not be pretty. Burn this entire forum down if you want, but I. LOVE. CG. CLONE. WARS. THERE, I SAID IT.

Man how dare you. Too young and of age eight to watch a real manly series? Seriously what is wrong with you? You make me sick at huma-

I saw some of it once, I liked it.

I think you meant to say you loved the Clone Wars mini-series which was produced by Dexter's lab and Samurai Jack creator Genedy Tartakovsky. Its ok, we forgive your foolish typo.

I liked both, actually. My tastes are not nearly as refined or discriminating as yours.

I want to go obtain the animated series now.

I should watch the real Star Wars some time.
