People don't realize that this is way more than could be included in a new DLC. 25 new maps (5 campaigns) plus X amount of maps for the survival mode maps Valve said will be included.  AI Director 2.0. A ton of new models, new weapons, and an ENTIRE NEW ENGINE.

I'm psyched for this. I just wish they didn't change the characters, I liked our ones.

Still, who knows? They might continue L4D 1 to some extent or port the maps and characters over.
No way dude, you're trolling me.

Indeed, I was just surprised by this Early sequel.
I really do hope that they continue with The Old Survivors.

But it's not like Valve to do this.
If it was, we would have seen Team Fortress 2 2 and Half Life 2 1/2 by now.
That's what Half Life 2 Episode *blank* is, BITCH! D:

I don't mind.

I'll just wait for the first sale to pick it up.

Every time Valve does something major like this, the fanbase goes "WTF NOOB".

Then it turns out Valve made the right choice.

>_> Except for the new unlock system, they dropped the ball there.

I think this is perfect for me. I'm getting a lot of cash around September and what doesn't go towards my new computer will be game money. ;D

That is freakin awesome, SOLD!

I hope they at least connect the campaigns this time like they were originally planning to do (or ask you if you want to stop playing the campaign after the game ends).  Would make for a better storyline :)

I like how you guys and me are the only people who are excited, most people on Facepunch and other forums are complaining because they have to pay for a new game and how it looks TF2ish, they fail to realise the game isn't finished.

Oh boohoo, you have to pay for new content, you should be used to it if not only from EA experiences.

:/

:///////////

Maybe I'd feel better if I could still play as the old survivors (even though they're in Pennsylvania). I got really attached to them. D:

And Valve is becoming like EA, and milking out their awesome franchise until it's lowfat diet organic skim milk. Sure the game looks awesome, but I already bought Left 4 Dead. This isn't a game that can easily have a sequel. There's barely a story mode. When I finish a round with my friends, I don't think to myself Wow, I wonder what happens next! like I would if I was playing Fallout 3 or something.

:/

EDIT: Actually, after reading the Left 4 Dead 2 topic, I think it will work out. Probably because they might include Left 4 Dead 1 inside of Left 4 Dead 2.

Although I already bought Left 4 Dead...

They haven't forgotten L4D 1, Valve also said on an interview at E3 that:
- L4D 1 Maps will work in L4D 2 (including custom maps) maybe even the other way around.
- There are new campaigns coming for coop and versus for L4D 1.
- Matchmaking 2.0 is being released the week after E3 and the L4D Authoring Tools are coming out of beta.

What some people are failing to realize is that the people making this game need money. This is their job. They need money in order to make these games. Money makes the world go round. They need money.

Need I say more?

They need money...

^ This man speaks the truth.

Valve kinda spoiled people with the TF2 updates but TF2 is only new weapons so they have to make 3 models, some animations, some voice lines and code in the weapons functionality. That isn't much compared to what L4D 2 will offer:

- 5 new campaigns, meaning 25 professional quality maps.
- New survivors, normal infected and special infected.
- New locations, meaning new props because the architecture varies almost from city to city anywhere in the world.
- New gamemode.
- Improved AI Director that is able to control weather, random item spawns, etc

This is as much if not more content than L4D 1 has. Totally worth whatever it will cost.

I'm sort of disappointed that they're putting in melee weapons. Well, that and now it's the Italian that's well off. Poor Louis, I shall miss you and your accounting or whatever.
