So, yeah, I was watching some clips on youtube about the game.

I really, really like the whole "Point n' click adventure game talky thing" they have going on with Raynor and company...although it will be a bit odd adapted for the zerg, because the only zerg that really talk are Kerrigan and that one ghost, Duran, was it? I think it's sort of a step in the right direction.

The "Plot currency for tech tree options" is a weird little thing, but I sort of like it. Gives the campaign a little bit more replay value, and I can grab reapers A.S.A.P. and avoid getting those stupid Viking things until they're an actual neccesity. And grabbing infested terrans early on with the zerg, yes indeedy. I like the way the infested terrans use the guns they have on em', which was something I thought was missing from the first game.

What I don't think is a step in the right direction is where they seem to be taking the plot:

So in the demo clip, Zeratul comes over and says hi to raynor. Then, he sorta drops this really corny soundy doom prophecy thing in Raynor's lap. Xel'naga coming back? Weren't they destroyed by the zerg, at least according to the manual for the first game? Magic happy artifact collection...urgh. Also, a lot of the character voices bug me.

The problem's actually on my end: My hardware's too primitive. So I guess I just have to wait until a new computer or graphics card is in the budget. So, around christmas time.

Hooray for lame updates and thread necromancy!
February 2nd, 1999, X-com base

Orders for new equiptment were sent out in the early afternoon, just as the engineering teams put the finishing touches on the new workshop space. The months new budget had been half spent already on new constructions, and news had come in that Dr. Zehova, a leading scientist and doctor from Czechezlovakia was coming in to support the project.

Everyone made themselves busy around the base as important things were accomplished.

Plank awoke in a muggy haze, and shuffled blearly out of the dormitory to the mission control room in a groggy haze, lazily persued by his stalwart allies. They entered the room and sat down to observe a large viewscreen displaying a map of north america.

Glacies walked into the room nearly five minutes later, large black bags under his eyes, and surveyed the assembled crowd.

"Where's Yuu?"
"He went to the bathroom."
"Oh. Okay. Anyways, see that blinking red light on the screen? That's an alien spaceship. It's very small. Any second now, that blinking yellow light will catch up, and then.."

The team watched for two hours as the red light continually evaded the yellow light and made it's way to south america, where the interceptory shot it down.

Then the loudspeaker crackled to life.

"Okay, chaps. I'm afraid the ship didn't get vaporized, so it's time to go off and salvage it. Off to work."

The team members groaned and shuffled out to work. Prof. Kraw made cofee, and then they rushed off to the skyranger and into the early morning.

Febuary 11th, 1999, 8:20 AM

The skyranger landed, extended it's ramp, and Prof. Kraw sighted a floating purple man with a ball where his legs should be. He shot it. It died. There were no other aliens around, and they found the remains of a one-person craft. They took it, and went home.

Febuary 11-17, 1999

Part way through the week, Madis was introduced to the team. Madis was an engineer of sorts who used to work for the USSR and created tanks. His skills were being put to use in the X-com project, as he had sold his new design to X-com and was introduced into the ranks. He operates his tank from the skyranger using a remote control. Meanwhile, the X-com scientists had perfected the medi-kit and motion sensor, and were now focusing the research effort on laser weapons. The slain aliens remained in the freezers. The team was re-equipped, with Rachel now possesing a variety of missles and a pistol, Plasma sporting several forms of explosive, Gbroderix got his paws on a pistol, and Yuu got a laser-sight for his sniper rifle.
Look, it's been a while since I've updated, so there may be inconsistancies. Point them out to me, and I'll fix them. For some reason the game did not remember I had ordered soldiers, so it will be a while till you show up. But you will!

My god. That was hilariously campy.

I just watched the christmas special, and by god it!

Plenty of "Oh-you've-got-to-be-****ing-with-me" moments. Seriously. Yeah. They had an entire godzilla giant cyberman hiding in the temps. And they had to use the poor widdle childwen for the slave labor, oh noes, just to show what a bad, bad sort of person Mercy & co. is.

Still, the episode was pretty funny, and had its good points.
