Saw Game Coming to Next Generation Consoles?
Brash Entertainment revealed at a recent press event that a Saw game is currently in the works and slated for a October 2009 release. The brief presentation showed a grainy trailer featuring the Jigsaw puppet, telling attending journalists that they were wasting their lives playing games and we should check out whoisjigsaw.com instead.
Brash is working closely with the creators of the Saw franchise – Leigh Whannell & James Wan – to bring the Saw experience to gamers. The game will be using Epic's Unreal Engine 3 – hinting most likely to a PS3 and XBox 360 release – and promises lots of blood and gore.
Personally I'm a huge fan of the Saw movies and have seen all four the day they came out, not to mention own them on DVD. While the movies themselves may be a little sick or twisted, they always have a great plot with an ending you don't expect. I think a solid game experience is quite possible although with constant controversy with Manhunt 2 it will be interesting how they will be able to pull off a "horror porn" game in this age of constant media scrutiny.
Oh yes. There will be blood.

The movies always seemed boring to me. 'Guy in a mask takes random people and snuff films them.' Not interesting.
Yeah it's coming
Torture porn is a better word :-P
I can't stand watching it, I think it's pretty sick. I'm not against it though, it's just fictional
Certainly the potential for an interesting game! I agree that the toture gimmicks have become a bit repetitive in the films but like Steven, I still can't help wanting to see them all and have them all on DVD. I wonder what viewpoint the player will have--victim, police, killer? Or perhaps a choice?
"Hello I am a doll who should probably be in Prague right now. Watch as I turn a B movie in a multi-million dollar franchise. Oh noes I'ma tear off your arms or something! Blood! People are scared of blood, right?"
And even if the series itself wasn't idiotic, the premise of turning it into a game makes no sense. The point of games since space invaders is to AVOID death. Is there any challenge to intentionally dieing? To walking into the goomba in 1-1?
LOL @ the irony - Saw was written by two Aussies, but Australia doesn't even have an "Adults Only" rating for games - the highest is "Mature 15+".
There's no way this game will ever reach Aussie shores...
Re: Malt - "The point of games since space invaders is to AVOID death. Is there any challenge to intentionally dying?"
Umm... Have you even watched the Saw movies? The point of the movies is to demonstrate the lengths that people will go to in order to AVOID death as well...
A video game about ripping people's arms off? Or something? I agree with Malt.
Where'd the ripping off of arms come from? Not from any saw movie I've seen...
