February 12, 2008Return of the Red Scare in Red Alert 3A leaked cover from PC Guru and the newly revealed PC Gamer confirmed the development of the next game in the Command & Conquer: Red Alert series. Rumors have formed around this game before, but this seems to be just short of an official announcement from EA. Presumably, this game will be released on PCs, though considering the recent fad, perhaps also on Xbox 360. Their really aren't any other facts on the game currently. I've been looking forward to this game for a while now. In a choice between Starcraft and Red Alert 2 (being that I played them both at the same time), I'd almost have to say I favored the latter. Something about the alternate time line, campy storyline, and creative units really drew me. Speaking of the alternate time line, I'd be really interested to see which side they'll use as the "winner" from Red Alert 2 and whether the telepathic Yuri will be making an appearance. Comments
About damn time! This is going right on the preorder list. Posted by PatMan33 at February 13, 2008 12:14 AMYes this is great and all but remember this is under EA and not Westwood. Posted by killerboy85 at February 13, 2008 2:24 AMLast time I checked C&C 3 was hardly a let-down so I think we'll be good. Posted by PatMan33 at February 13, 2008 3:50 AMNo Westwood made Red Alert for some strange reason and.. As glad as I am for this announcement, it still makes me sad to see the once-great Westwood reduced to nothing but a C&C pooping factory. Posted by Sonny at February 13, 2008 2:55 PMIt saddens me that EA is just gonna F up another CnC game. CnC3 and generals werent terrible, but shallow. After the mild campaigns, theres not much left to do. The skirmishes are fun for about 2 maps and the MP is riddled with elitists and poor systems that dont match players up effectly. That coupled with maps that run slow on decent systems and dont allow for a wide zoom. I suppose only time will tell, but CnC3 was basically Generals and BFME2 with a slight face lift. That and they lost alot of what made tibsun fun. Things like USEFUL stealth as well as massive maps and games that would take a weekend to play. EA's rts's are 2 minutes games and lack depth. Research is shallow at best. Needless to say, I will be waiting for full reviews on RA3 (and the cnc3 expn kanes wrath) before I even consider it. Lets hope EA finally stops F'in up the CnC games by dumbing them down. Posted by verkinix at February 13, 2008 11:25 PMI've been dreaming about this day for so long! But taking in consideration the entire westwood studios team was laid off, then we had CnC3 and generals, witch imo wasn't shallow, but was freaking terrible compared to the kind of expetations that came with the amazing games CnC, RA1, RA2 and Yuri's expansion. Atm I have no hopes for this game, amattar afact I had hoped ea games wouldn't make a third, I wish they didn't have the chanse to fuck it up, because they will.
