December 10, 2007Best Game of 2008 to be Spore? We Hope?Make sure to check out the latest issue of PC Gamer which has an excellent preview of Spore. Lots of large screenshots (see links to the images below), "pop-up video" captions and annotations, and a tons of new information. I have to say that after seeing the game in various stages of development over the past few years, the screenshots in PC Gamer show a complete, polished product. Each stage shows a complete working interface with clear goals and feedback labeled within each stage. Maybe, just maybe, this game really will be coming out in the Spring of 2008. Also of note check out new information on Far Cry 2, WoW: Wrath of the Lich King, Left 4 Dead, Starcraft II, Alone in the Dark, Fallout 3, and Peggle Nights in this issue. Oh yes, and make sure to check out the new back-page writer Ben Croshaw, better known as Yahtzee, aka "the Zero Punctuation guy" who does those awesome video reviews. Update: You can view the magazine scans here, here, here, and here. Comments
I'm gonna say this and then I will say no more: Didn't someone get in trouble with a mod on the Gaming Steve message board for posting these same scans? Posted by Ryuukuro at December 10, 2007 6:39 PMProbably. I've seen developer/publishers blacklist fansites that post magazine scans. The pages are copyrighted material and it's illegal to post scan as far as I know. Posted by Annikka at December 10, 2007 8:23 PMI don't see why it matters, if someone REALLY wanted to see the images for free, they will. Their not exactly hard to find. In any case, it's cool that we're getting closer to release. I'm sure Spore will be awesome, but I'm still not in love with the cartoony art style. Posted by Sub at December 10, 2007 9:01 PMWow, I am loving seeing the interface and gameplay move along. Posted by Kishmond at December 11, 2007 12:26 AMI am a bit surprised that GS post thoose scans... Its like throwing rocks in a house of glass, like we say in Sweden... (It means that you do what you forbid other people to do) Posted by Huckbuck at December 11, 2007 9:07 AMMaybe he got permission? Posted by salvatorus at December 11, 2007 9:20 AMThe scans are not mine nor are they hosted by this site. They are being linked to a 3rd party. I was not aware of the GS Mods limiting these links but I spoke to them about the policy for the future. Posted by Gaming Steve at December 11, 2007 9:30 AMI wouldn't say that someone got "in trouble" for posting these links on the message board. However, their post was edited and a mod cautioned them for breaching forum rules. I have now reposted the links to the message board. Posted by SimEarth Freak at December 11, 2007 2:02 PMI'd watch out though GS, TV-Links thought the same thing (about linking to a third party). Though that was in England and I'm not sure where this site is located or it's local laws about such things. Posted by Azuvadexis at December 12, 2007 4:18 AMEA will probably notice if more people than ever before, participate in the discussion title "Linux?" that's on the Spore pre-order page at amazon.com. Let's make it the biggest discussion ever. Posted by Zerothis at January 2, 2008 12:45 AMPost a comment
