UK resistance did a little visit to their flagship london store about a year ago(situated in the same area that the flagship Apple store is, so they were paying through the nose for it) and did a nice little report so we could find out what went on.
As they say "A picture speaks a thousand words. The word is "HA" repeated 1000 times."

Posted by Chris at May 3, 2006 09:45 PMWith the buying computers part, if you're considering a Dell, dont get an Asian one, here in Australia we get the Asian ones, and 99.9% of them are business machines, and most of them have onboard graphics with no expansion ports for graphics cards, they're just not for gamers, the American ones are much much better.
Of course I think the best way is to just build one because you know what you're getting and you can cutomize it the way you want.

Posted by Khash at May 4, 2006 12:49 AMWell Steve I own a PSP. I have to agree with you to an extent, I only use it for homebrew and listening to podcasts at work. I play many more games on my DS. It's too bad, the PSP is really filled with potential.
I'm also disgusted with another freaking proposed tax. I'm sick of these politicians trying to meddle with my games. We are taxed enough already, and many good, law abiding people, are finding ways to avoid taxes in general.
Don't be ashamed your a gamer, so many of us are, and more of us are over the age of 18 than you think. Keep up the good work, don't crash at E3 :D

Basically he recommends to never buy a Dell computer because Spyware now comes preinstalled on them and Dell wanted 50$ to tell him how to remove it. (The software comes preinstalled on HP computers, too btw)

I know they've done some press for it, but it sort of feels like the fans are doing more to promote it than they are. I was totally unaware of the game until a couple of weeks ago when a Nintendo fanboy brought it to my attention.
I haven't touched a Nintendo product since the Super Nintendo, but I'm going to buy a DS just for New Super Mario.

Or were you focused on PC games coming out in the same timeframe as Vista?

I didnt know about the new Mario coming out either, I just hope it isn't going to be another ported Mario game from previous systems. I've always been loyal to Nintendo over the years so its good to hear when X system is doing crappy. I noticed Steve mentioned Ticket to Ride again, honestly I cant understand his obsession with it that being said I can picture him with a Ticket to Ride shrine in his closet that he prays to everyday and then commits perverted acts in front it.

Frankly anybody who has access to this site and most other gaming sites has access to enough knowledge to comfortabley be able to build thier own.
E³ is drawing far too much of my attention for a show that hasn't even started yet. It's like a swirling vortex of eye candy, tidbits and noise it'll destroy us all I say.

The game is a race where you give orders to a robot to get to certain flags in what is basically a factory that would only have been built to look cool in a movie (anybody who has seen Galaxy Quest and the 'smasher' or just about any cartoon factory froma WB cartoon, knows what I mean.)
You get dealt cards and these are your move orders. The cards are numbered and you place them face down on the table, the idea is to plan the movement of your robot. You put down five cards (if I recall) and once everybody has their cards down you start a turn. Everybody flips up the first card, the one with the highest number going first (they are number 0 - 1000 so there are no duplicates). You then move your robot per his order, then you move your robot per the board (he might be on a conveyor belt, oiled tile, or some other hazard) then you move the next player.
Where the chalenge comes in to the game is that:
1. The boards a re foll of traps, conveyor belts, crushers, flame throwers, etc.. and you need to get around them.
2. You only get a limited number of cards, and none of them might allow you to go where you want to go, so you have to work around the limitations.
3. The movement is based on the card number, so your craftly planned movement might get kicked out of whack when another player shoves you a square (or three) out of the way... making that timed crossing of the conveyor belt to miss the chomper a one way ticket to the recycle bin.
4. Other players are armed and can shoot. :)
While the game can be hilarious, I can't think of a game that would be better suited to being turned in to a turn-based computer game (ala Civ4) that this one. The aggrivation of some of the complex maps could often turn in to sessions of rule checking and deabte on the rules (a computer version would avoid that problem). It is also hard to find players because the beginning maps have been played out by the experienced and the advanced maps often result in quick deaths (disappointing the new players... never to return again).
I have the game and I love it, but it sits on the shelf collecting dust... too hard to find someone to play. I bet it could have the potential to be a great as a multi;y computer game.

Posted by xnodas at May 8, 2006 04:00 PMAbout the E3 comment where Steve said it is very hard to get in. I have to disagree with you. I worked at a small software publisher and did shipping for them and I was given an E3 pass for the event, I just could not afford to go down for it.
Also my friends make up small blog sites right 3 or 4 articles then fax E3 and say they are in the industry and get a press pass no questions asked.
Now granted no more press passes are being given out but still if you had just a little forsight E3 is a cakewalk to get into.
