Hey Steve, at about 1:23:20 we have two Steves talking! Posted by SenseiJinx at May 25, 2006 10:39 AMI've got even more Steves later on. I guess we got a lot of value out of this one :-) Posted by humanclip at May 25, 2006 10:50 AMYour voice sounds different... Have you been turned into a robot? Posted by P4p3Rc1iP at May 25, 2006 12:46 PMHe's obviously trying to fit it all in. Posted by Brutus at May 25, 2006 1:05 PMNow you just have to add in a "Will it Float" Section, and you'll be that much better! ;-) I can just imagine... Steve I know you kept telling everyone to plug the mouse and keyboard into the 360, but currently you can only plug a keyboard in and this is only for messaging. It wont surprise me if Microsoft sends an update down the line and updates the 360 letting you use mouse and keyboard with games that support it. Posted by Jman at May 25, 2006 6:58 PMHey steve lookin forward to listening to the podcast, but thought you'd like to know about youtube and bandwidth "Industry observers estimate that YouTube, which is streaming 40 million videos and 200 terabytes of data per day [...]" http://www.forbes.com/home/intelligentinfrastructure/2006/04/27/video-youtube-myspace_cx_df_0428video.html Posted by David at May 25, 2006 9:16 PMDang Steve :) 2 gaming Steves??? And the dual voice part was almost the question that I asked. I hope you get to my question next week :) You do a great job. Just recording that one question was hard. I can't imagine doing a 1.5 hour podcast like you do. Awesome work! --Shoki Posted by Shoki at May 26, 2006 12:25 AMWow, that part with two Steve's was awesome. -_- Yup, you cannot at the moment use a mouse on the 360. Maybe when the windows live games come out they will release an update that lets you use a mouse and keyboard. Posted by krazyman at May 26, 2006 1:08 AMThe double Steve thing kind of freaked me out. Whatever though, it was a great cast. You had a ton of energy this week, what kind of suppliments are you taking ;) Posted by The Diggity Diggity O at May 26, 2006 2:39 AMHey Steve, I just heard your "want list" for Super Smash Brothers and wanted to let you know Pit (AKA Kid Icarus) was one of the new characters revealed in the trailer. :) Posted by UndeadScottsman at May 26, 2006 3:05 AMGreat podcast Gaming Steve, thanks for all your efforts. Posted by swerv at May 26, 2006 4:05 AMVery nice podcast Steve :D Keep 'em coming... Posted by aquaman at May 26, 2006 4:33 AMSteve, what the hell!? Bungie playing HALO 3 not true? It's fricking Bungie. They do hype, but they don't do total-complete-BS-hype. This isn't Sony. I'm sure they have Halo 3 multiplayer running, and ACTUAL Halo 3 multiplayer, not an edited form of Halo 2. Plus the fact they showed Gamespot and a couple other people that the teaser was realtime, so it's obvious they are capable of having the multiplayer up. Don't be an ass. Posted by Anon at May 27, 2006 2:54 PM@Anon: Cmon man, you don't have to hang on a company's every word as truth. It's Halo 3, it doesn't even need defending. It's a total hype machine that gets blown out of proportion everytime someone says the word. There are a lot of us that are disillusioned, and I can't believe you're that overwhelmed by what Steve said. Halo 2 was really like a Halo expansion pack, so who's to say what Halo 3 is exactly? All I know is that by name it's Halo 3, but that doesn't mean the gameplay/graphics/sound/multiplayer is literally a 3rd generation from the original Halo title. We might see Halo 4 in the next year and a half or sooner after Halo 3 comes out. Take it easy okay? Posted by Jecrell at May 27, 2006 3:02 PM@Jecrell Halo 3 may be used as a forward-hype-machine for Microsoft, but it is a great game nonetheless. It's a great FPS, and extremely polished. Halo 2 was not an expansion pack. It was the same, excellent gameplay from Halo 1 with new maps, more storyline, and a couple neat gameplay features. Halo 3 isn't Halo 2 with a new weapon. That's just being arrogant. The graphics, we already know, are 3rd generation, and the rest will just follow suit. Bungie is a great game company, whether Microsoft abuses them or not. I was a bit rash, but why does Steve have to talk garbage about a really, amazing company and one that has never really lied to the degree that he's suggesting with Halo 3 multi being Halo 2 with a new weapon. Posted by Anon at May 27, 2006 3:10 PM@Anon I think Steve has way better knowledge of the internal workings of game companies, so unless you can proof that what you say has merit, keep these comments to yourself. Posted by DoggySpew at May 27, 2006 3:31 PM@Anon Steve wasn't exactly bashing on Bungie. It is only a guess at what Bungie is really doing. (but Steve knows alot about games so I trust him) I also love Halo, but as long as the game is good when it comes out, i'm fine. It doesn't really matter to me if they are actually playing Halo 3 multiplayer right now. Posted by KrAzYmAn at May 28, 2006 12:38 AMLearn to pronounce magic correctly. Thanks. Posted by JImmy Beano at May 30, 2006 11:27 AMCliffy B is implying that part of great graphics and camera are even better when "messed up" at the right times. Look what it did for Firefly and Battlestar Galactica to mimic handycam motion. The cameras in racing games do this by shaking in the wake of the cars, but again only in replay. My memory is a little stretched, but I think PGR2 (Dreamcast) allowed the game to be played in replay-like fashion, but it was almost impossible to control the car because of far views, rear views, spinning pans, etc. Posted by Robb at May 30, 2006 12:48 PMIf it was Halo 2 plus one weapon that would still be a big deal because they're using the 360 XDK meaning Halo code is running on the new platform which is not a trivial change in itself. Also I don't believe there's any reason to believe that some version of the updated engine (perhaps as used in the real-time trailer) could be used let alone anything else. There's a difference between healthy scepticism and total cynicism and I think you've been drifting more and more to the latter (not just with the Halo). If you don't believe something, or think it's a cynical ploy; don't labour the point say it and move on. Jaded journalism just isn't too fun to hear constantly. I wonder if it's because as you said; you are less willing to spend time gaming for it's own sake and thus it's often feeling less of a passion and more of a chore. Posted by Lex at May 31, 2006 10:27 AMThat really freaked me out with the Double steve thing, I had paused the podcast for like 45mins and came back and hit play it and it happened right after a unpaused it. I thought I had somehow screwed up the Player :P Posted by Evilsbane at May 31, 2006 12:45 PMTodays podcast? Posted by Alfred at May 31, 2006 3:51 PMAnd today's?
