Damnit, read Disciples III as Diablo III for a second and got all excited :p Hope there'll be some d3 at e3 :) Posted by yuri at April 25, 2006 5:37 PMI highly doubt another Diablo game will come out within the next two years. Posted by Shadowcreep at April 25, 2006 5:47 PMi suppose :( guess they would have announced by now if they were gonna show it at e3 anyway. Posted by yuri at April 25, 2006 5:57 PMHasn't gaming steve already been hinting that Diablo 3 has been in production for a while? I think it will come out within the next 15 months. Posted by thane_jaw at April 25, 2006 7:13 PMSC 2 had damn well better come out before DIII Posted by shinynew at April 25, 2006 7:29 PMI honestly wouldn't be surprised to see diablo 3 released in the next 2 years and that starcraft 2 will be released in the next 5 years Diablo 3 will be out long before Starcraft 2 Posted by Jonathon Lowe at April 25, 2006 9:33 PMThanks for another good podcast. FYI Your time code for the podcast is off. the show mail starts at 55:56 Posted by spoonmerlin at April 26, 2006 3:18 AMI'm so excited about the possibility of D3 eventually being released. I also think SC 2 will be released later, but this will probably be because SC is Blizzard's ultimate series and wants to make it perfect - don't you want it to be perfect? Posted by DrJiggs at April 26, 2006 4:25 AMwell if diablo III is due to come out in the next 2 years, wouldn't they show it at this years e3? i hope they will. maybe steve found out they are not developing it after when he revealed all the information about it cos he hasn't talked about it since Posted by catz at April 26, 2006 4:48 AMKudos for your podcast Gaming Steve but I have to disagree with your Command & Conquer comments. Not only do I consider C&C Generals' gameplay to be the best singleplayer experience in the series, but I think that some of the games have held up very well in multiplayer, especially the red alert games. You also mentioned Battle for Middle Earth as a modern alternative and yet that game was made using the SAGE engine. The same engine that powers C&C: Generals and Zero Hour! I dare anyone who hasn't played Generals to get the C&C: The First Decade collection from a place with a good return policy. If you don't like it just return it or sell it on ebay. Saying that the gameplay hasn't evolved in the series is just not accurate. It's actually evolved so much that some fans are angry about it. Posted by general disarray at April 26, 2006 8:47 AMSteve, how can you complain about microtransactions that add content, saying you're paying to complete a game that should've been included in the release version, yet in the same breath you support World of Warcraft. That's a game where you're required to perform microtransactions for absolutely nothing more than permission to play! Would you rather pay $10 once for an additional character slot, or $12 a month for nothing new? Posted by Lobster at April 26, 2006 9:51 AMWoot. This show wasn't as boring as last weeks ;) I'm not sure about your stance on Microtransactions. You don't support the 9.99 character slot, but you support the 2.00 Oblivion content. Maybe I mis-interpreted both comments. Either way I don't like them, I feel I spend fifty bucks on a game, I should get the same game everyone else has, and shouldn't have to buy the extra perks. Either way, good show this week. Keep on gaming.
@ general disarray I have to agree with you completely. All the C&C games were great - some awesome memories come to mind simply by talking about them. Yes, go out and buy the First Decade - it's cheap, but the experience is incredible. Granted, the games are old now, but classic nonetheless. Posted by DrJiggs at April 26, 2006 9:59 PMGaming Steve, you seemed to infer that waiting to buy an XBox 360 is futile, but imagine someone who has the patience to buy a console at the end of its life: all hardware problems should be ironed out, they get the best chips and what have you, AND...it is more economical. Hardly futile - I would say smart. Also, I'm sure the Microsoft people are really nice to you and all, but please don't let that unbalance your E3 coverage. Lately it seems your podcasts have been all about Microsoft - let's hear about Sony and Nintendo for a change. Posted by Laurence at April 27, 2006 12:10 AMDidn't everquest 2 break the barrier on buying new character slots? When it was originally released I think they only had 4 char slots and then they allowed you to purchase more. Its been a LONG time since I played EQ2, so I could be wrong. Also, C&C Generals in one of my favorite games of all time. Maybe I'm not smart enough to tell if the game is not a good 'strategy' game, but I love playing it. I never play any multiplayer, mostly just skirmishes so that may make a difference for some. I can't wait for a new C&C game. Posted by fuzzbee at April 27, 2006 8:00 AMDamn, the next C&C is in the tiberium series :( I was hoping so much that it would be Red Alert 3 :(:( Never really got into generals much and the tiberium setting never interested me and red alert is one of my top games of all time anyway. And on the subject of d3... i reckon they cancelled it after all the staff left them... but if it was announced DAMN it would sell a LOT, even a small bit of old info released from steve got 400 comments and got a lot of people hyped. http://www.gamingsteve.com/archives/2006/02/rumor_diablo_ii.php And if you look at the alexa rankings steve got a lot more "daily reach" than he ussually did when he posted that article, whatever that means. Oh and the things i'd like to see at e3; revolution, ps3, maybe an announcement on ffxiii?, diablo (i wish ;() and spore of course :P Posted by st0rm at April 27, 2006 8:45 AMIt was a damn debacle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Posted by JImmy Beano at April 27, 2006 11:04 AMOh and can you please pronounce magic correctly. Posted by JImmy Beano at April 27, 2006 11:09 AMyour caller needs a lesson on averages. if you have 10 people playing games and 8 of them are 35 and the remaining 2 are 8. the average age of gamers is around 30. its not halfway between 8 and 35 Posted by dan at April 27, 2006 2:00 PM@Laurence Don't you listen to the podcasts? He talks about Sony and Nintendo all the time, just as much as Microsoft. What about his Nintendo DS or his Sony PSP? I guess those don't have to do with Nintendon and Sony... Posted by DrJiggs at April 27, 2006 2:25 PMSteve, you have to try using "that being said" a little less. You don't want to sound like Will Wright with his "ummmm". Not that I like Will Wright any less because he says umm, but it is still annoying. Posted by Devin at April 27, 2006 3:32 PMLaurence, Hasn't Gaming Steve said already that his coverage is on Microsoft a lot more at the moment because a) they're much more open to the non main-stream press and b) since the console is OUT, it's more prevalent because more news is coming out about it? Just wait for E3, I imagine that you're going to get all the Nintendo and Sony coverage you would ever want and more. Also, about waiting to buy an Xbox 360...One of the best things about being an early adopter is that you get to enjoy things for longer than other people because they become obsolete, and as a PC gamer, you probably HAVE to be an early adopter just to keep up with the hardware changes, so I'm chomping at the bit to get a 360. Posted by Sander at April 27, 2006 3:35 PMWhat I am saying is that public relation interviews with Microsoft officials is BORING. Sony and Nintendo may not be willing to pimp their PR people to Gaming Steve, but that doesn't mean the 360 and its handful of games should dominate Steve's E3 coverage. Posted by Laurence at April 27, 2006 10:42 PMGreat show as usual... Wii < omfg?! :) Posted by DieH@rd at April 28, 2006 3:09 AMSTEVE IS BIASED?!? Let him report the news. Until he tells you what to think, leave steve to his madness. He has his own reviews and opinions. It isn't FOX NEWS for goodness sakes. Posted by Rob Lee at April 28, 2006 3:15 AMI understand you're point about how its foolish to wait for upgrades and such. The comment about someone who waits until the end of the system makes economic sense, but a gamer will miss out on so much during that time, it wouldn't be satisfying. I personally buy systems when they come out so that I can play games on that system for the first year/year-and-a-half until the price drops. Sure I paid $75, but have a good bit of playtime for it. The negatives in waiting are: 1) Incompatibility. Some older games are incompatible with the newer, cheaper models. Gaming Steve has to be one of the most unbiased people out there. He buys all the games and all the consoles and plays them all. The only thing he could be biased about is if he has more fun with specific games, and more power to him, because some games are just better than others. Now... I have recently come across this site and I am hooked. I am a 40 year old gamer and enjoy this hobby which I been hooked on since the Sega Master system entered my home. Nowadays I am a pc gamer and my favorite games are rpg's. Saying that I am presently loving Oblivion. I also am enjoying CoD2, Gal Civ 2 and The Movies. Keep up the good work GS..great podcasts !!! I hope to buy a ticket to E3 someday myself just to see it once. Posted by Dave Sodee at May 3, 2006 9:01 PMPost a comment
