Good, a nice long show! (Liquid Snake voice) I've been waiting for this ! Posted by DoggySpew at April 10, 2006 5:42 PMSo the projected date is still fall 06, and the Spore Exchange will work kind of like the sims exchange. Cool! Posted by sgore at April 10, 2006 5:45 PMIt is unfortunate that Oblivion is receiving such critical acclaim, despite the fact that it is such a lackluster game that cannot even begin to compare to its 'RPG forefathers.' Posted by VargrimGraff at April 10, 2006 6:27 PMWow. Honestly, I'm glad you took a week off to refresh and get some more life pumping in those veins of yours. Honestly, you actually sound like you've gained a bit of an extra spring in your step since GDC, which...is always a good thing, da? Posted by Stangmar at April 10, 2006 6:57 PMYou talked about buying a Mac for windows games. Please note: You have to buy Windows (between $130 and $300) and bootcamp expires. It is just a test for right now. Posted by Ben M. at April 10, 2006 7:01 PMOblivion "lackluster"? Good grief, what does it take for your people to be satisfied? I got it a week ago and have been playing it constantly since. It improves a lot on Morrowind. Posted by Anonymous Contributor at April 10, 2006 8:18 PMI don't see why people complain about Oblivion. I've had it since the 23rd and have been playing it nonstop. I've been playing RPG's for a very long time and to be frank, Oblivion meets and even surpasses most RPGs I've played. Regarding this weeks show: I loved it. I was quite sad that I did not have my weekly Gaming Steve Podcast, but this one made up for your absence. Keep up the good work! Posted by Heatha at April 10, 2006 10:10 PMFirst off, they're lowing the price on at least the next Plug-In for Oblivion on the PC for $1.89 USD. How you think they'll be $5-10 for the xbox0 is beyond me. Also, why should a consumer pay so much for so little, after getting 200+ hours of content for $50-$60? Not to mention that they won't release the tools to import 3dmodels into oblivion. While I understand that it costs much more money to make these plug-ins then it did for Morrowind, the much, much larger audience means even at a small price tag they could be making hundreds of thousands of dollars or even millions on just one small plug-in while charging less then a buck. I'm sure that vastly outweighs the cost of making them. I like to point at Valve trying to charge 19.99 for 4-6 hours of HL2 content, for an expansion of 5 episodes for an example of overcharging for content. Bethesda should avoid such practices, and that's exactly what they seem to be doing, by finding a price for their small plug-ins that everyone is happy with. Posted by PC Dave at April 10, 2006 11:40 PMAnd the less oft heard headline: PC boots Apple Software Posted by RealmRPGer at April 11, 2006 1:02 AMOblivion created a small ripple in a week of time........ much less gameply then i hoped for.. didnt even pass the 50 hours mark on it, had nothing left to do = bored.... And good games right now... which ones, cause my fav game right now is pressing my debit digits to pay for my car :S But ya.. only salvation for me coming up is Spore... put in a good motivational word for Will to create some crazy fun shizza so im not plagued with my weekly routien.... Posted by Yoyort at April 11, 2006 5:05 AMIf people think oblivion dosen't have enough content, they should have gotten the PC version. There are already hundreds of mods adding and expanding content. In fact, I am working on a mod that adds a "dawn of the dead" style island that you get stranded on. Posted by Evil Lil Spore at April 11, 2006 8:40 AMExcellent as always. You really do sound refreshed Steve, it's nice to hear. Posted by robotplague at April 11, 2006 1:52 PMWhat kind of rationale is this...Last X-mas you had to buy a Xbox360, the games and an HDTV and Gaming Steve claims this would cost 600 bucks. This X-Mas: Tell me Gaming Steve where can I get an HDTV for 200 dollars? Since the 360 is 400 bucks. Posted by Sworn at April 11, 2006 7:15 PMOblivion is amazing, Morrowind, frankly, sucked, for pretty much the same reasons that Gaming Steve said. It's pretty damn incredible to me how people can be complaining about Oblivion's length of play, when I've had it for a week and been hammering away at it constantly and feel like I've barely scratched the surface. Thanks for the Ep Steve, I was beginning to think you were burned out on podcasting. Posted by Sander Scamper at April 11, 2006 7:41 PMwow, Greg sure does talk fast, but I definatley enjoyed listening to him even though I dont have an xbox360. And the spore news, especially hearing about how we can track how our creatures are doing, got me excited about Spore again! gread comeback podcast steve, thanks :) Posted by DevilMachine at April 11, 2006 10:26 PMI was expecting some enthusiasm for the red steel screen shots put out this month. If Ubisoft pulls it off, we'll have one killer launch title for the rev. Posted by Astroblastro at April 12, 2006 2:44 AMGreat show steve, I thought you accidentally got lost in San Fran. Good show, I can't believe the Oblivion complainers made it here too, lol. Oh well, I'm enjoying it. I've invested all available free time into since release, while it does leave much room for improvement. It's better than I expected it to be. Rock on Olin Posted by The Diggity Diggity O at April 12, 2006 7:24 AMWho are you, and what have you done to steve ? ;-) Listening to the episode right now - you sound great, Steve. Now we can hope for more great Live Arcade offerings - like Archon, Killer Instinct, and others. Posted by madpoet at April 13, 2006 11:31 AM@RealmRPGer that one made me laugh. for like 10 minutes. straight. lol Posted by drjiggs at April 13, 2006 11:34 PMi SAW you play the spore demo where can i Posted by The Flying Geiko at April 14, 2006 8:28 PMI found Greg Canessa very unpleasant to listen to. As he spoke I imagined him shuffling and dancing on his feet, wringing his hands, seemingly desperate for the toilet. Was the guy on speed or something? Also, I must be one of the two people who have no plans to play Oblivion in the near future. I've only started playing Baldur's Gate recently, so I'll pick up Oblivion when it's in the bargain bin and running immaculately on my next generation computer. I just don't need the immediate gratification that infects everyone else. It does sound like a sweet game though. Posted by Laurence at April 15, 2006 1:10 AMLOL.. to Laurence.. no offence.. but send me half of what i paid for mine.. and ill send you my copy.. I got about 5th of the ideal game play time.. and system integrity was well quite good on my not so top of the line system.. but ya well worth the time to paly.. gives an idea of whats to come.. even if it isnt as good as you were hoping it'd be, like me with Oblivion, EAW and several new releases. Posted by Yoyort at April 15, 2006 2:14 AMOk, to answer your final thoughts: I've managed to save up roughly $74408 in my bank account, but I'm not sure if I should buy a house or not. Do you think the market is stable or do you think that home prices will decrease by a lot? Posted by Courtney Gidts at May 23, 2006 2:11 PMPost a comment
