March 21, 2006Spore NOT Confirmed For Mobile Devices in 2006
Although it was strongly implied by Mitch Laskey's GDC Mobile's keynote address yesterday that Spore would be distributed in 2006 for mobile devices, it turns out that the slide containing this information was a bit misleading and the 2006 date is in no way a confirmation of Spore's launch date. Unfortunately I while I was talking to EA I was not able to get a revised date, just that there was no confirmation as of yet for the release date of Spore. I guess we'll still be guessing as to the official release date as of now, however the recent article in Wired Magazine featuring Will Wright did mention that Spore will be released in 2007! Yikes! Stay tuned... Comments
2007... :( Posted by Mr. Wizard at March 22, 2006 12:02 AMNo!!! That gave me so much hope! Now all my hope is crushed... :( Posted by Special Brownies at March 22, 2006 12:05 AMCome on that's an amatuer mistake. "Oops, we had a game on there that you won't actually be around in '06 for you to play. Hey, you should still be impressed though." Posted by Scipion at March 22, 2006 12:14 AMI'm a patient person, if they are taking their time to make the game just perfect that's ok. Just hope they'll be as quick with taking their time as possible. Posted by Schmidt at March 22, 2006 12:20 AMKAAAAAHHHHN!!! Why Will? WHY!?!?! Ned Spore..so much theat speeling no good, smae with grammer. Posted by mike6426 at March 22, 2006 12:33 AMSNAP! Why Moses! WHY!!!!!??? Posted by PatMan33 at March 22, 2006 12:34 AMCan we at least get a demo? Of even the first phase? Something! Please Posted by Agent-Smith at March 22, 2006 12:42 AMThe only thing I've actually heard is Will Wright saying "Fall. Fall '06." No!!! I can't wait that long! Seriously, I'll whine and cry as much as the next guy but I refuse to blow a fuse. The first person who does gets a spiritual slap from me. Posted by Ryuukuro at March 22, 2006 1:25 AMCome on now people. It would be silly for the spore team to release a semi-completed slapped together Spore, just so that people can play it a little bit earlier. If it takes more time than expected to release the game that we all want, then that's what it takes! I would much rather have completed spore game that is the 'Spore' that we always wanted (and a better game in general) a little later, rather than a rushed shoddy spore just so that it meets the arbitrary 'fall 2006' release date. This kind of thing happens all the time with other games. I think it's a very sensible decision. We should not be suppressed, or disappointed. Posted by Driux at March 22, 2006 2:29 AM"needs prozac" Posted by CosmicD at March 22, 2006 5:49 AMWell if more time they need, more time they get.I would rather see it come out in 2007 (As much as I don't) then rushed to come out in Fall Q3 ;). Posted by LONE GUNNER3 at March 22, 2006 5:58 AMNooooo! .....2007.... *heart sinks* Posted by Umbra_Militis at March 22, 2006 12:14 PM:'( Posted by Rct2mad at March 22, 2006 12:15 PMhttp://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.04/spore.html
*Sinks into his seat and slowly chokes on tears* Seriously, its not the end of the world. As of yet this isn't confirmed. If it's true, then more time means better game as for as I'm concerned, although, it would be a major blow. Posted by Spore2DaMax at March 22, 2006 12:44 PMIt'll be done when its done, do you want Spore to suck? Still, this makes me want to cry. Posted by gbCerberus at March 22, 2006 2:12 PMhehe, I could even guess that it might be the gamingsteve forum's fault. All the suggestions and ideals might have caused the dev time to rething and advance some stuff of the game :) Posted by CosmicD at March 22, 2006 3:29 PMnoooo why i cant belive this!!!!!!!! and 2 things maybe its not confirmeded that its 2007 and maybe if its 2007 i hope its january or something becuase wow i cant wait so long!!!!! Posted by xoatl_169 at March 22, 2006 4:13 PMTHIS SUCKS!!!!AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! JUST GIVE US A DEMO!!!!!!!! Posted by scott at March 22, 2006 7:15 PMI was realy looking forward to Spore. Me and my freinds were getting ready for this game. Shoot. Though, for the cell stage, you could change it so you never grow, and put that out as a demo. Well I was hoping the Petro would do a great job of EAW.... they didnt.. the game is good... solid to point.. but replayability is gone, and a hour of game paly is the pretty much the same as 30 hours for it, other then the mods, worthless.... Im really hopping Will can pull this one off, dont over do it or think the game ever has enough, would be my two cents for him, and if need be release it in a beta sale, with each beta purchaser getting a final 3 requests as too wants and wishes, most likely / definitly being put in (ie/ types of features, attributes, or even game play ideals. Posted by Yoyort at March 23, 2006 3:03 AM\"I just got off the phone with EA and it appears that Spore has not been confirmed for *mobile devices* in 2006\" Dickheads. Posted by Capt. Jules Nirvana at March 23, 2006 1:16 PMSetbacks are to be expected as it was said that some options like how fur would be recognised or determined was yet to be worked out, and other edges yet to be smooth, a game this outstandingly complex, must be worth its wait. I just say, release a demo version, and give people the disclaimer that the full game will blow the pants off of it that way they keep people interested. Simply said, if your life revolves around video games, get a reality check and knock it back down to a beloved hobby of yours, seriously its not the end of the world... yet I would like to add that chances are as much as i would like to see a demo version, it would COMPLETELY jepordize what the MAXIS team is going for and it might ruin it for people. Posted by Greywolf1542 at April 11, 2006 5:55 PMSorry for this double post but isnt that just for mobile devices meaning that the release date essentially stands from the PC? Posted by Greywolf1542 at April 11, 2006 8:30 PMOh well, there is always the beta-testing that we can circle around like vultures. Let us in, let us in... *claws at their door* Posted by QiSnake at April 27, 2006 3:06 PMThere is a website where you can sign a petition for a beta release of Spore.
thats 172 days-US-CANADA time frame Posted by baa at July 24, 2006 11:59 AMI think that they should release either the creature editor, even if its only a beta version, or maybe the pac-man style tutorial with the micro-organisms, even that would last us atleast a few months. and really it couldnt be that hard to make a demo of what Robin Williams and all the other people at E3 or G4 played. where can i get the spore demo Posted by user at December 6, 2006 8:40 AM |
