HUZZAH! It's ready! Downloading... Posted by TheShark at February 27, 2006 04:40 PMmust...get...100...mbit! Posted by Kalle at February 27, 2006 04:42 PMYour download isnt streaming... all it does is download 14 seconds of first part and doesnt stream it... Do you have a non-streaming link where i could download the WHOLE thing? Posted by KorJax at February 27, 2006 05:12 PMKorJax, In Firefox right click it and select "save link as" to download the whole thing without streaming. In IE the option might be "save target" or something similar. Hope that helps. Posted by Ludoc at February 27, 2006 05:39 PMHot moses I have been waiting for this! Posted by PatMan33 at February 27, 2006 06:52 PMYou said in your reveiw you couldn't switch to 3rd person? The demo I played clearly let you switch between 1st and 3rd...Maybe I heard you wrong. Posted by Naar at February 27, 2006 07:00 PMAnother nice show, thanks GamingSteve. Sort of zoned out during the Oblivion stuff, I'm sure I'm in the minority but step by step description of what you did during your hands on preview wasn't that interesting to me. Everything else was very good as usual though! So it's not really a complaint or anything. Posted by swerv at February 27, 2006 07:09 PM"You said in your reveiw you couldn't switch to 3rd person? The demo I played clearly let you switch between 1st and 3rd...Maybe I heard you wrong." I am pretty sure that I said that you CAN switch to 3rd person; perhaps I said it too quickly. Either way, yes, you CAN switch to 3rd person and I actually played the game for around 30 minutes in that view. The game plays a bit like WOW when you are in that mode, but I actually perfered the 1st person view. You said in nyour review that we couldn't eat children in the demo I played I was clearly able to eat all the children I wanted.*Burp* Posted by Scott B at February 27, 2006 08:10 PMThe King's Quest game you were trying to remember, Steve, was 6. I loved that game. The minotaur, and well, the Isle of the Sacred Mountian in it's entirety was a difficult part. I guess the bug was fixed by the time I got it, so I wonder what point it happened at. Posted by Yossitaru at February 27, 2006 08:41 PMYeah sorry Steve, you do say that you can't play in 3rd person, "since you never see what your face looks right, I didn't really care." Posted by PC Dave at February 27, 2006 09:44 PMOH YA ON MY IPOD OH YA OH YA OHYA Posted by dallas at February 28, 2006 02:27 AMNO!! Don't make us wait for more weeks ... give us a 6 hour podcast of your Oblivion travels ... *cracks whip* I don't care if your throat is bleeding ... keep talkin! Posted by VixenofVenus at February 28, 2006 04:19 AMI found 1st person to be much too limited...It's like running around looking through a cardboard box strapped to your head. 3rd person gives you a much better sense of the area around you. I'm glad you have the option for both though...it makes everyone happy :) Posted by Naar at February 28, 2006 04:21 AMOblivion's entire graphical system, apart from being pretty, is to provide immersion. I don't know about you, but I certainly never watch myself via disembodied camera behind me. Posted by Sander Scamper at February 28, 2006 05:23 AMSteve ...PLEASE give us more. I was SO looking forward to this, then find out you are breaking it down in parts. Forget all the other stuff for now, Give us more Oblivion..PLEASE!!! Posted by Redd at February 28, 2006 06:42 AMHello Steve. My own “investigations” about the classic Sierra games compilations reveals that they might be vapourware. This is the 3rd podcast I have downloaded that deals almost exclusively with Oblivion, and I just can't get enough. One of the other two is your interview with Peter Hines (Last Week). If you want a great detailed (But relatively unorganized) description of pretty much everything you can do in the game, listen to Gamer Andy's most recent podcast. I really can't stand his podcasts, but the one that deals with Oblivion is pretty juicy and funny at the same time. Other than that, I wouldn't listen to it as it's overly childish and very unintelligent. I definitely agree with most people here, though, in that i just can't get enough info on this flippin' game!!!! Posted by TagsxA at February 28, 2006 08:58 AMSteve, RE: analysts... Sure, analysts have agendas and they give their opinions. But they've been heavily trained on what to look for and on what to base their opinions. If they were just pulling the stuff out of their arses all the time they'd be wrong so often they wouldn't have any credability, or a job. Some are bad, some do pull stuff out of their butts, and some do say things just to manipulate stocks, sure, but I'd have to say that's the vast minority since people like that often get fired. I'm a market analyst of another sort and I kind of resent when people say that an analyst's opinion is exactly as educated as anyone else's. That generally isn't so. Everyone's opinion may be equally valid, but an analyst makes his or her living by knowing the market and knowing what influences it. I'd trust YOUR opinion over those of analysts at Merill Lynch any day, Steve. But you seem to be discounting the minute possibility that this guy might be right. Posted by Lobster at February 28, 2006 10:44 AMSteve, Great podcast again Steve. Bit disappointed that you didn't answer any written questions though. I hope next podcast you'll get some new Spore info, because this dearth on Spore info is just getting on my nerves. Posted by DoggySpew at February 28, 2006 11:05 AMWOOT!! One years of GamingSteve coming up soon ;) Now, where's my present .... I know what Steve, you give us all a cop of SPORE for being loyal ... :D Posted by Rct2mad at February 28, 2006 12:43 PMVery informative. Glad I listened, now I can't wait for Oblivion. Oh, and btw, it's "spit", not "spick" Unlike these starving listeners Steve I don't need more oblivion... I like show mail and news much more :) Now stay back rabid Oblivion fanbois... don't you want to discover most of this stuff in the game when you actually can play it? Posted by Heartless Gamer at February 28, 2006 02:55 PMGaming Steve, new listener thanks to Oblivion. Really great in-depth preview, you are by far the most informative of any of the previewers I have heard yet. Keep up the good work, look forward to next week. One question, did you see and light armour in the game, and what was it like compared to the heavy armour (ie heavy being steel, light being leather or something like in morrowind? Because in morrowind there was also medium armour but I know that thats not in Oblivion). Posted by PETE at February 28, 2006 04:48 PMI LOL'ed at "Stone the Stoner".... and thats all I have to say about that. Posted by DevilMachine at February 28, 2006 08:53 PMKing's Quest 6: Absence Makes the Heart Gone Yonder had the minatuar. Where did you read about the rereleases, Amazon only provides minimal info. Posted by Max (the French stamp winner) at February 28, 2006 09:41 PMGO steve Go steve its your birthday, YE....... You need your own show on tv. Lets call it Gaming with steve, on Spike tv. Posted by jack at March 1, 2006 03:02 AMhehe, nice to hear that steve was impressed by the bushes. King's Quest was one of the reasons I got an IBM PCjr way back when (1984?).... Can't wait to purchase the entire series for $20! Just listened to your preview. I'm a Morrowind find who's very hopeful about Oblivion, but then I read this mixed preview: I know you mention a couple examples of popup, but what this guy is saying is rather more serious. A little worrying. If you could answer those criticisms in your next preview it'd be appreciated. Thanks. Posted by Jon Mann at March 1, 2006 07:49 PMRELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED its gone gold MARCH 20th get ur pre orders WOOT Posted by Sychon at March 2, 2006 05:03 PMYou mentioned that Space Rangers 2 is sort of like Oblivion. Having played both which do you think offers you more freedom; has better combat, and you liked better? Posted by Rookie One at March 3, 2006 12:09 PMSTEVE, What time sat can we get more on Oblivion?
