January 05, 2006Hundreds of Rare Video Game Soundtracks ... Found!
Well look no further than Japanese import site Play-Asia.com. Not only will you find a huge selection of Japanese games, toys, and movies, but their selection of video game soundtracks is simply astounding. With well over 1200(!) video game soundtracks to choose from you can easily blow a couple of Benjamins in a matter of minutes. Just take a look at some of these choice albums (I feel like K-Tel):
As well hundreds more. Best of all, the prices are quite reasonable (especially considering that they're all import titles). Oh man, that iPod is going to be filled up mighty quick! Comments
Play-Asia is great. I often order hard - impossible to find Japanese movies from them. I would suggest them for anyone interested in Asian music/movies/games. Posted by Interitus at January 5, 2006 11:07 PMPlay-Asia has a huge selection but they are very overpriced. I can find a album thats $30 on Play-Asia for $15 on other sites. GKworld.com doesn't have an as huge selection but lower prices Posted by Stubbyperson77 at January 5, 2006 11:39 PMWoah, welcome to 1999! Tsk tsk Steve, I thought you would be better on top of stuff like this ;) I kid. www.gamemusic.com is another great site dedicated to selling videogame soundtracks. Posted by Steven at January 6, 2006 12:11 AMHeh, I post for those who don't know about these sites, not just myself. But that gamemusic.com is very good, I haven't seen that one before. Very cool. Posted by Gaming Steve at January 6, 2006 01:10 AMAn alternative is to go to gamingfm.com, connect to a stream, and set winamp to start ripping it... You won't find everything you want, and you'll get a billion Final Fantasy songs, but some interesting stuff as well. Also, vgmix.com has some phenomenal remixes. For example, check out: "Simon's Town" (Castlevania 2) by Digimatic ...and if you really want a laugh, "Manly Dave" (Maniac Mansion) by DJ_Potatoe. Posted by T-BirD at January 6, 2006 02:17 AMHmm...sorry for the formatting nightmare in the previous post - don't know what happened. It looked fine in the preview. Posted by T-BirD at January 6, 2006 02:18 AMA friend of mine often bought from them. I liked listening to Chrono Cross a lot. Posted by Ben at January 6, 2006 10:22 AMSometimes the only place for me to find some albums is through BitTorrent or fan sites. I can't afford the imported stuff. Posted by Max Lawlor at January 6, 2006 04:03 PMi just save the music for ROM'S i have lots of music all in Mp3 format its pretty easy i have 10 tunes for 10 games on the SNES and 3 tunes off the NES. Posted by Retman at January 7, 2006 07:47 AMOf course, you could always head over to Zophar.net and grab a bunch of PSFs or SPCs. Posted by Gauphastus at January 7, 2006 09:54 PMYou can always use torrents or emule. which is cheaper but of course u dont have the legal felling of OWNING a OST Posted by David at January 10, 2006 07:36 AMOftentimes, these "import" shops don't give you that legal feeling either; they sell bootlegs. Music CDs get a pretty limited print run in Japan, as do most of the games themselves. If you're thinking of buying a soundtrack, and it's more than a year or so old.. you're better off just grabbing encodes from your favourite distribution source. Posted by michael at January 15, 2006 02:59 PMhi, Thanks!! |
