Awesome!

I will listen to this now!

And yeah, I love listening to the sections where you talk about stuff, they are the best part!

Really!

God bless your long podcasts! People are always recommending game podcasts to me and when i see that they're only like 20 mins an episode i don't even feel like listening to it at all.

I wanted to say that I really wish that they would make more games like Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney in America.

I import Japanese games like that all the time and they are simply SUPERB!

It is a nice change from regular games and they are wildly entertaining!

I really appreciate the outline of times, so I can skip to the parts I like. Sometimes I listen to everything (Except the Retro Review, which I almost always skip), but this time I only listened to Spore Talk and Name That Game.

Ahh Bard's Tale, I remember that game, making maps and then going to Apple Users meetings and then compare maps with all the kids (we were kids back then!) to check out mistakes. We also learn how to hack the saves so we could have pictures of dwarfs and other monsters as our pictures (no need to change stats as we imported characters from Wizadary). Great summary of a great game, made me want to play it again.

That was a big one. Great work, Steve. Everyone appreciates what you do.

Yeah really good show...not finished with it yet but soon will.
And i love Star Trek so yeah that was a happy news story for me.

Yay! You spent time on my question!

Hmm, about those recruiting tools... Do you think that they are for gathering your armies from your tribe's settlements, or are they a form of cultural/religious victory by which you convert other tribe members to your own?

G4 is such a dissapointment. =|

I hope it ignites into a ball of flame, and burns for eternity.

Great work!

I really appreciated the worst CEO of the year segment (Take Two) that no other gaming podcasts reported as well (the info about the marketwatch guy)... *really* interesting info there.

I also like the long podcast (no tv/radio-like time restrictions is so cool). As long as it's quality content i don't mind really long podcasts. :)

I have a 360 -- and I can hook it up to the internet and I have a Gold 360 subscription. Although, I don't think you need to be online to actually "get" the achivements. I believe it'll just set up a little profile and show your achievements if you're all offline as well.

Now that these games have achievements, I can't imagine what life would be like without them. Even though it's for a few mesely points that add to your profile, it adds new incentive to playing games.

Cool Thank you steve for another podcast ill be listening to it soon also have you answered my mario kart ds question on this podcast?

Posted by Retman at January 5, 2006 05:18 AM

Great work, but I'll never listen to it. Wait, wait, don't feel bad! I don't listen to anybody else's podcast, either. How about a transcript?

Hey Steve, Although I'm a newcomer to this site, I have been listening to the entire podcasts. Just thought I'd mention it since you asked about the last section in this one. Keep up the good work.

About the class changing in Bard's Tale, Guild Wars has a similar system, once you get late in the game you can complete certain missions to change your secondary profession. This allows you to train most of the skills for that class, and you can switch to any class whenever your'e in town.

Happy new year Steve, and to all fellow listeners!

I loved the "first videogame stories." When I was a kid, new video games in the arcade were a breath of fresh air. A few of those games were so awe-inspiring, there was actually a brief emotional attachment! There were several that I remember, but I'll just mention one: Gorf.

Was Gorf the first hybrid game? I used to death-grip the Battlestar-Galactica-like stick such that I had to uncurl my fingers with the other hand.

Another great episode, Steve!

Steve - I went out and purchased Psychonauts for Xbox on your recommendation. Great call on this one.

I'm about 1/4 of the way through and find myself bursting out laughing at least once every five minutes. My wife is starting to question my sanity.

Totally hillarious and fun. Why isn't this a bestseller??? Boggles the mind....

Posted by Paul at January 6, 2006 12:24 PM

The Psychonauts game dialogue is extremely well-written. My favorites are the talking squirrels and the communication to the aliens sent thru the PA system instead of transmitted. I can't remember character's names, but the dancing-world mind has not been fun, except for when I found something tucked away off the beaten path. It definitely encourages exploration.

Steve - thanks for answering my question on the CoH/CoV game guide binders - I too like the idea but am still a little hesitant due to their cost. See if Prima will give you a freebie to review for us !

I also was interested in the French Gaming Stamps you mentioned in Episode 33. What is the URL ? I don't think you mentioned it...

You can find more info for the french gaming stamps here:

BTW, the character that Steve didn't recognize is Adibou, a very popular game character for little kids (like 2 to 5 years old i think). He's very popular in France and in Quebec.
