October 17, 2005Gaming Steve Episode 23 - 10.17.2005 After spending two days playing with the Xbox 360 I decided that I needed to do something special for this week's show. So I sat down with Nick Puleo from Evil Avatar, John Callaham from Gamecloud, and James Ransom-Wiley from Joystiq to dissect every aspect of the Xbox 360. We talk about the hardware, the interface, every single game at the event, and a lot more for over an hour and a half! It's like getting two shows in one, check it out.

WOO! This has to be the longest one yet! I wish I could vote for you again on Podcast Alley. Posted by PatMan33 at October 17, 2005 02:49 PMYey! iam putting it on my Mp3 right now iam going to listen it when iam in bed lol ^^ Posted by Brian rettie at October 17, 2005 03:26 PMWow. 2.5 hours. Very awesome. Too bad the audio quality is garbage. Bit rate of 32 kbps compared to the usual 64. I don't mind a large file, it that's the reason for the low quality. Really sounds bad though. Unsure if I will listen. Posted by Max Lawlor at October 17, 2005 04:13 PMNo, it's the same quality as usual (64/22). Actually, it's a bit higher quality than normal (it's now in stereo). Try to download again. Posted by Gaming Steve at October 17, 2005 04:19 PMDon't know what one you are listening to. Did you click the low quality version? Posted by PatMan33 at October 17, 2005 04:37 PMAlmost 2 1/2 hours! Woo! I love the longer podcasts! Its downloading right now, and I cant wait to listen to it. I've been reading your Xbox 360 coverage, and cant wait to hear it in this podcast! Thanks for the extra long podcast Steve. :-) Posted by Pilot4Life at October 17, 2005 07:09 PMWtf a biased show is this ? are get payied by sony to saiyng non sense thing about perfect dark zero ? first u did not played a finisced version, and seond all are saying that it is great, and you just to jet attention say the opposite...lol Huh? Posted by PatMan33 at October 17, 2005 07:26 PMI was hoping that stupid intro song would be gone by now. The words don't even rhyme. Curious to hear the 360 talk.. Posted by StentorianVoices at October 17, 2005 08:05 PMThis is a great show, Steve, as usual. And the longer the show, the better--I make time to listen, tonight while I'm replaying Metroid Prime 2. Thanks. Posted by beelzebozo21 at October 17, 2005 08:37 PMListening to this was kind of weird. There were lots of people talking that were not Gaming Steve. Why are people who are not on Gaming Steve talking on the show by Gaming Steve? The people that were not Gaming Steve did not agree with Gaming Steve's opinion and then Gaming Steve couldn't get the initiative back and the people who were not Gaming Steve took over the show. My suggestion: Stay by your opinion next time, even if the others don't agree with you. This is your show and people who listen to it want to listen to you, right fans? :P Wack. Hey, nice podcast guys. Chris, I just wanted to point out that you can run in Condemned (it was left thumbstick compressed and forward, or something else as equally awkward). You are right though, it isn't needed and I didn't use it much. Also, I'm pretty sure there were infact checkpoints in PDZ. Once you failed the mission or died, you had to go to the start menu and choose to load checkpoint, or something. I could be confusing it with another game, though. Cheers. Posted by Justin Nolan at October 17, 2005 11:13 PMI have finshed listening to it big Well on the xbox 360 talk it has told much info on the whole console thank you very much pretty bad audio but i could hear it so thats the main point Posted by Brian rettie at October 18, 2005 04:37 AMGood podcast, but I thought I would chirp in about the whole iPod nano playback feature (This may well have been covered in the forums), it's only playing back from a USB Mass Storage device, and it'll be playing MP3's or WMA's, not DRM'd iTunes files. Not really a massive innovation, more of a thin veil for a stab at a rival product. Anyway, lots of information, all in all a great podcast. Posted by Gareth Saxby at October 18, 2005 09:05 AMwow...this site is almost as big of a joke as ynos...sad...too bad your opinions dont count. Posted by cockmaster at October 18, 2005 11:33 AMSeems like there's genre bias - you're very much pimping up Call of Duty 2 and dissing PGR3. Maybe it's down to the fact you guys like racing games less than you do FPS games, though I'm sure the proof is in final tweaks. Need for Speed's graphics are pretty lousy by comparison to PGR3's graphics, though hopefully it'll play like Hot Pursuit on the PSOne. Mm. Posted by ArtMonkey69 at October 18, 2005 11:42 AMGreat show. Your best yet IMHO. I have to say that the intro music is pretty bad. Posted by Mike D at October 19, 2005 01:41 AMGareth Saxby, you are right about it not playing DRMed iTunes files, but it WILL play AAC tracks ripped in itunes (like all of the music on my ipod). And for those with other mp3 players that dont use ITMS, the Xbox 360 WILL play DRMed WMAs from other services. Regarding Apple drm, I heard a MS rep state they were "still working on that" with Apple. Sounded like a bogus PR responce though, because I don't really see Apple going along with it. By the way, if I heard this normally I would have probably agreed with many of you guys thinking this podcast was somewhat biased. I was also at this event, and I can tell you they mainly nailed everything right on the head. Posted by Justin Nolan at October 19, 2005 03:15 AMExcellent podcast , the music grows on you. keep up the good work Mat Posted by Mat in the uk at October 19, 2005 09:46 AMthe final stinger just made my day. thank you. -leeman Posted by lemurbouy at October 19, 2005 04:27 PMStop the hating. GamingSteve is all about love. Posted by Pir0 at October 20, 2005 03:38 AMGreat podcast as always. Nice information on the Xbox 360. Now we're well informed. The music is really a nice touch, now I have your intro song stick in my head for days. Keep up the good work!
