September 15, 2005Sam & Max To Return (No, Really!)
The new game will be completely original and will have nothing whatsoever to do with the canceled Lucasarts Sam & Max: Freelance Police title. So why after all this time have Sam & Max finally returned? It appears that Lucasarts lost the rights to the series and creator Purcell, who was familiar with Telltale from their days together in Lucasarts, went to Telltale to answer the legion of fans who have been begging for another Sam & Max game. Not much is known about the game right now, but what is known is that Telltale Games will release the game in episodic format, much like their upcoming Bone series whose first episode is due for release later this fall (update: you can now download the demo/trail for Bone from Telltale). This is the third attempt to make a follow up to 1993's Sam & Max Hit the Road, the first one being an Xbox-bound action/adventure title from now-defunct game studio Infinite Machine, and the second of course being LucasArts' ill-fated attempt at a sequel, Sam & Max Freelance Police. Both of those died before having a chance to live, but here's hoping third time's the charm! Posted by Gaming Steve at 11:00 AM

That just made my day. I love that game. Posted by Sub at September 15, 2005 12:01 PMYay! Sam & Max. I can't wait! Posted by ShinKaiser at September 15, 2005 1:24 PMthis is a good thing. Posted by Deep Lee at September 15, 2005 4:32 PMOmg... I can;t beleive my ears. Anyone remember last april when lucas arts canceled Sam and Max 2? After that i thought that all gaming in the world would stop, then later that year rome toal war and the sims 2 came out lol. I'm do glad they got the licness back. Neways this morning i was thinking about the way through Sam and Max hit the road then i get on and see this. Posted by Tarious at September 15, 2005 4:49 PMI wish I knew what Sam and Max was. I'm constantly hearing about it everywhere. Never played it because it's not available anywhere. I guess I'm missing out on something good. Sucks. :( Posted by Gauphastus at September 15, 2005 6:44 PMOh my god oh my god oh my god...This is the best thing ever, besides Initial D v3 for the PSP. Posted by Humbert at September 15, 2005 7:13 PMnow we just need the Dig 2: Electric Boogaloo. -leeman Posted by leeman at September 15, 2005 8:51 PMHey Gauphastus, you can still get the Collected Sam & Max, Surfin the Highway book! I missed the game the first time around too... though I have to say that owning a mac and not really being into games sold in 'chapters' I guess I'm never going to play the second game either. Posted by K.J.O. at September 15, 2005 9:47 PMFantastic news. We really need a new Sam & Max game soon. Posted by Mikael Jonsson at September 16, 2005 3:37 AMholy holy holy crap I'm going out and seeing if I can't find "Sam and Max Hit the Road" sometime this afternoon. I need to get my S&M fix. ....err, I can't imagine that came out sounding the way I'd hoped. Posted by Phil Renaud at September 16, 2005 12:44 PMThis is just fantastic news! :D for Gauphastus: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005Q6XJ/026-4974851-0996433 Posted by Captain Nemo at September 29, 2005 5:45 AMAlthough the idea of sam and max returning is something i've been waiting for with bated breath, i'm not entirely filled with hope. Although i like the ideas and principles of telltale games, i can't say i was even remotely impressed by their new game Bone. I just prey that they do justice to sam and max and attempt to reach the heights of the quality the void Freelance Police appeared to hold. and yeah, i'd love someone to make another Grim Fandango too, or at least something similarly great. for a good character and story driven game, check out Psychonauts by Double Fine. founded by Tim schafer (the guy behind Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle) http://www.doublefine.com Posted by Paul Chambers at October 18, 2005 10:43 PMThat´s fantastic! I´ve loved Sam and Max since my childhood! for Gauphastus: if wanna play Sam n Max download ScummVM from www.mixnmojo.com hey, my bros wrote a comment, so i'll write one too. thats great!
