September 13, 2005Mario Turns 20 (Wow I'm Old)
Also make sure to check out a salute to Super Mario Bros. Villians, watch the Super Mario Brothers Super Show (and view the Bros. in drag!), play the Donkey Kong board game, or eat some Super Mario Ice Cream. But whatever you do today do not -- repeat -- do not rent the absolutely horrible Super Mario Bros. The Movie. Let's just all try to forget that this ever happened shall we? Happy Birthday Mario -- I'll buy you a drink next year! Comments
Don't be dissin' the Super Mario movie man, the bob omb scene actually cracked me up. Oh, and the fish was called Big Bertha... Gotta go play some more San Andreas now, but nobody cares I guess. Well, that's life, don't whine about it! Heh, I remember that movie I saw it when I was like 6 or 7 (I'm 15 now) it was pretty weird... Posted by jujubee at September 13, 2005 3:28 PMmeh, the movie wasn't THAT bad Posted by Areku at September 13, 2005 4:33 PMIt's hip to rag on the Super Mario Bros. Movie, but if you're a real Indy hero, you'll be able to enjoy it. Posted by Max at September 13, 2005 4:37 PMHappy birthday Mario!!! Posted by Simman at September 13, 2005 6:41 PMHappy Birthday you! You look good for being 20.. Now get back fixing my plumbing.. Posted by Mikael Jonsson at September 14, 2005 4:42 AMLet's not forget the sweet Mario magnets Wow, those magnets are very cool. I am going to order those right away! Posted by Gaming Steve at September 14, 2005 1:19 PMThe Mario Brother dance from the tv show sounded suspiciously like walking. "Swing your arms from side, take one step than another. now you're doing the Mario!" Suspicious....but awesome. -leeman Posted by leeman at September 14, 2005 1:50 PMEven though it was horribly unfaithful to the game (which is why it flopped) the SMB movie was still a fun little movie thanks to three actors (John Leguizamo, Bob Hoskins, and Dennis Hopper) with great comic gifts and even some of the non-game plot elements. If it weren't supposed to be a Mario movie then it would have been remembered better as a wacky sci-fi/fantasy film. But I hope that someday a real Mario movie is made. A Dreamworks or Pixar style CGI film would be great. Posted by Ryuukuro at September 14, 2005 8:46 PMThe movie itself wasn't that bad. I enjoy it, and I've been a Mario player (as well as other things) for most of my natural born life. |
