--typed as I listened to podcast. Haven't done one of these in a while, I don't know if anyone ever reads these, but whatever.--

That Devin Moore guy is a fool. Not guilty by reason of mental defect? Everyone has problems, buddy, but they don't play GTA and go and kill cops.
Pathetic excuse.

I already know parents don't pay attention to the ratings. When something bad happens though, they'll be sure to pick on something that would make them look less irresponsible. "Oh, it's the rock and roll." "Oh, it's the Dungeons and Dragons." "Oh, it's the video games."
Whatever.

Wow, that Gametap sounds nice, but I'd find that useful for games I couldn't find elsewhere.
Why didn't they do this sooner?
Hopefully, one day, everyone will have a single "console station" in their room and you pay with virtual money to download the game instantly.
That's what I hope for the future. Don't really care much about anything else. Just more lazy thoughts -- don't have to go out at all.

Madden 2006. Great... I don't enjoy sports games.
Sure, sometimes they can be funny if you screw around or do something unexpected (like make a totally awesome shot), but I don't enjoy the competition or the Live play.
It's just not fun for me, but then, most games these days aren't.
Oh, my god. Mutant League Hockey! That game was frigging hilarious. Gore and zombies and crap.
Played that with my brother, but then he traded it to someone for an N64. Sucks.

Yeah, I heard elsewhere about Blizzard North shutting down. Never found out why.
I've been hoping for another Diablo III. I just hope it's not as boring. The only thing I liked about the Diablo games is hunting for treasure.
I'd like it if they added a few things, like gambling or other minigames (coliseum or something).

Wow, Microsoft is finally trying to make some money. Doesn't sound like they'd make very much, but it's "good" to see that they're awake.
Thought they were up to something unthinkable, but no. They're just doing what they always do: sit and accumulate.

That deal with buying gold in WoW sounds like a bit of a hassle, but not too bad. I'd still never pay money for virtual objects.
Weird how those guys acted so businesslike.

Yeah, people are definitely getting antsy about Spore. I know I sure am. My friends are.
It's like an itch.

I want to get Dungeon Siege II but I saw that you did a review. I figured I'd listen to this first.
*listens*
Eh, now I'm not so sure. The only reason I want it is because I'm bored, but I don't want to get a game for 60 bucks and remain bored. That just sucks.
We'll see. I'd get the demo, but it's a gig. That's sadistic.

Name that game... haven't played this for a while.
Good job, Pilot For Life (not sure exactly how it's spelled). Congrats.
A cape? Euh... well, we'll see.
*listens*
Uh... that was so easy I don't think I'll bother. Besides, what would I do with a cape? I'm no hero. And the chance that a hero stops by asking if he can borrow any spare capes I have are very slim.

Some other games --
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (for DS, sequel to Aria of Sorrow on GBA) and Castlevania: Curse of Darkness (for PS2, takes place a few years after Castlevania III. Trevor Belmont is actually in it. Yee.)
There were others but I forgot.

Anyway, I am f-ing hot. It's over 30 degrees. I must go find popsicles in the bottom of the freezer.

I kind of enjoyed the Dungeon Siege II demo, it wasn't very different from the original. Graphics a bit better, controls basically the same, etc. etc. The one thing that really irked me, however, was the voice acting. I cringed every time I approached anything that looked like it may, at some point in the distant future, develop the ability speak. I really hope they do something about this for the release.

But, then again, I'm not paid for my opinions...in fact, I'm not really paid at all....for anything!

The voice acting is atrocious. It ranged from people who couldn't act to people who didn't know what they were acting. Honestly, I can go back to the days of beep speech if only to avoid junk like that!

"Maybe his toothbrush made him do it."

Heh, that part made me laugh. ^_^

I thought you said you would break up the show into times?

Ex: Steve talks about this 3:20
Steve talks about that 14:10
Steve doesn't break up his show with times 17:40

Posted by JiMmY_dEaN at August 15, 2005 11:19 AM

Good show again Steve

I really like the Dungeon Siege 2 Demo and I found it fairly difficult, died a few times. Wonder how well I will do on the full game. At least the death system is a lot better than the origonal, no more reloading a saved game. Myth baby, oh yah, love that game. I don't think the voice acting is that bad, except maybe the fighter character I picked up at the gate, he was bad. I really like the graphics, and the fact they run silky smooth is what matters to me. I would rather have a high framerate than a really laggy game with high resolutions.

If anyone does not know the answer to Name that Game they should be shot!

Posted by Zaphod at August 15, 2005 11:46 AM

Actually I said that it wasn't going to cut-up the show times because it takes me a long time to do that. But I said that if someone else wants do that I will gladly post the times.

Alright, sorry.

Watch your tone around Gaming Steve Jim!

Posted by Sara at August 15, 2005 09:16 PM

Just calm it down Jim, nobody wants a fight. I would like to point out the Comment board Rules one more time.

-No Swearing
-No Racial remarks
-No Flaming
-Do not spam Caps

Is that clear enough for you Jimmy?

Posted by GolfNut at August 15, 2005 09:18 PM

It really breaks my heart to see people Like Jimmy pulling this kind of stuff.

Posted by Yona at August 15, 2005 09:18 PM

I didn't break any rules, I just got a little mouthy. Sorry, Steve.

ah, Nethack. I've never beaten it, and it's still very addictive after all these years. One of the fun things about Nethack is the sheer number of item combinations that the devs have made work. This makes discovering all the different ways you can combine items with each other (or with dungeon features) a huge part of the game.

Posted by db48x at August 16, 2005 08:26 PM

Cool that you mentioned Rogue (et al). Rogue itself isn't actually that fun, but some of the variants and derivative games are addictive as hell and frighteningly deep. The best Roguelike games are:

- NetHack (more cutesey)
- Angband (an amped-up version of Moria, which has lots of classes/races and artifacts)
- Zangband (a version of Angband without the Tolkien theme; has an outdoors and a jaw-dropping number of races/classes)
- ADOM (Ancient Domains of Mystery - elevates Roguelike games to an artform, with an intricate plot and a huge world to explore)
