April 11, 2005Microsoft and Pepsi Planning Massive Xbox 360 GiveawaySeems like today is the day of Xbox 360 news and rumors. The latest rumor is being reported by engadget where Microsoft and Pepsi are going to team up to give away over 9,000 Xbox 360 consoles in the weeks ahead of the console's official release. The contest will work in a very similar manner as the Pepsi/iTunes giveaway and use an under-the-cap registration method where one console will be given away every ten minutes, 24 hours a day, for nine weeks straight. Assuming that the Xbox 360 will be released in mid-November as many people expect, this contest would start at the beginning of September. Which brings up an interesting question, if you win an Xbox 360 in September ... what are you going to play on it? Many people expect an updated/enhanced version of Halo 2 or perhaps demo versions of all the release titles for the Xbox 360. Either way can you imagine how much these suckers are going to sell for on eBay? Comments
I forget...is the XBox 360 supossed to be backwards compatible? I guess that'd give people something to play, but it'd be kind of pointless, really... Posted by Sensei Jinx at April 11, 2005 10:32 PMWell, too bad the giveaway won't probably be available in certain places Heat Posted by Mr.Heat at April 12, 2005 7:43 AMGuess I'll be on a pepsi diet for 9 weeks, maybe I'll videotape it and declare it the unrelated sequel to 'Supersize Me'. Posted by franchise at April 12, 2005 11:18 AMI won an Xbox via the Taco Bell "win an Xbox before you can buy it" contest. Now, notice I said "win" not "play." The contest ended in September, the Xbox launched in November, and I didn't get my Xbox in the mail till late Feburary. I bet it will be the same for the Xbox 360 Pepsi will be giving away a free xbox 360 every 90 minutes from early april. i was in the tv advert that was filmed late feburary 2006. in the advert john terry ( chelsea player) was banging on the side of the big blue pepsi bus while the fake winners were screamin and shouting ontop. The advert is all linked with the world cup this year.
